Museo de Bellas Artes de Toluca — Attraction in State of Mexico

Currently 97% of the museum is the works of Nahúm B. Zenil, which are all variations of self portraiture and mostly highly sexual.

There's the artist as the devil (with a massive dong). There's the artist as two angels flying through the sky (getting it on). One of the few non-sexual works is a reproduction of Frida Kahlo's famous trolley painting with every face replaced with his own. The sum of the exhibit teeters between bemusing and crushingly tedious.

I'm not sure I needed to see 100+ self-portraits of a dude mostly getting it on with himself. But hopefully he worked through whatever issues he was working through. I've never left an art gallery feeling like I less understand what "art" is. p.s. don't...

If you like Egyptian statues and history this is a place for you. On Wednesdays there is free entry. They created mannequins to simulate the discovery of Egyptian tombes. El museo se encuentra casi en el centro de toluca, es muy pequeño en comparación con otros de su estilo. Pero se encuentra dentro de lo que era un antiguo convento. Por ende es básico encontrar obras con referencia a la iglesia y ya no digamos a su arquitectura. No hay estacionamiento, pero hay públicos en los alrededores. No se cobra entrada hasta donde me quede y siempre tienen buenos baños disponibles. Actualmente la exposición de Leopoldo Flores, un gran representante; entre sus obras mas conocidas esta el vitral que esta cerca de aquí. Pero en este lugar se exponen otras obras menos conocidas de este artista x los menos hasta agosto del 2019. Tiene lugares para sentarse, admirar las obras y lo mejor del asunto es que casi siempre esta vacío. Así q aprovechen. Les dejo unas pics...
