Have been four times with JC now, and probably won't return.
Pros: Best location in Lac Bay, great place for socialising with fellow surfers, beach boys are terrific and always there to help carrying stuff/select sails and board or just to chat about surfing, broad selection of freeride/wave/freestyle boards and sails
Cons: JC needs to invest heavily in their equipment to keep up with the competition in Lac Bay. Quality of the boards just OK (to be fair: There are some new 2021/22 boards available, but usually it is older stuff that is heavily used/run down, no LTD/wood models), quality of the sails very average (some new models, but usually very heavy sails/basic low carbon masts), boom/fins are in bad shape. Odd composition of several brands (fanatic, RRD, Severne for boards and Duotone/Severne/North for sails) and several models (freeride/wave/freestyle/slalom), so its hit or miss whether you get your preferred models in high season. The whole place needs a very thorough cleaning/update (garbage flying around, dirty toilets, ..).
Given their premium pricing, it's not worth it anymore. Better go to the Dunkerbeck Procenter for the much better...
Read moreMy Dad and I just spent 3 weeks pretty much living at Jib City. We were in the AirBNB's right behind Hangout Beach Bar. Everything about Jib City is fantastic. Jalmar and Lynn were always available and super excited to answer questions or chat. Their entire family spends alot of time onsite... pretty much because it is an awesome place to be! The staff at Jib City are also friendly, inviting and most importantly knowledgable. They are all super bad a$& windsurfers and foilers. Any staff were able to get us out on the right sails - which they have plenty of. They have a particularly awesome 3.7 meter sail :-) I was priviliged to use.... The weather was superb and the wind unbelievable. There is a beautiful shallow bay for fin and deep bay for foil (wing and wind). Both super easy access. If you ever are in search for the best windsurfing, windfoiling or wing foiling destination IN THE WORLD you MUST consider spending time with the team at Jib City. Bonaire is a great destination and I would recommend it to anyone. AND double that for Jib City. I will absolutely be back and hoping my Dad will join me...
Read moreI was leery of the buzzy Jibe City before we visited, because I feared it would be touristy. However i was pleasantly surprised at the great vibes, relaxed atmosphere, and superb bar food. We had a burger and the chicken nachos, and both were amazing. We had planned to get a kite surfing lesson but rather than take us out and charge us for a less-than-ideal experience, they recommended we wait until another day when the winds were higher. I appreciated this greatly. We never ended up doing the kite surfing because we couldnt fit it into our schedule, but regardless we visited Jibe three times during our stay on the island. The water is gorgeous and shallow for miles–great for swimming, sunbathing and just taking in the beautiful view. They had a lemonade seltzer that was delicious and perfect for sunny days; this is the only place I found on Bonaire that had hard seltzer. Jibe city is a must-visit, kite...
