Located in the heart of Middelburg, this charming museum, though modest in size, is housed in a beautiful historic building that adds to its allure. The museum offers a rich and varied experience, with the first floor dedicated to a diverse array of art exhibits. These displays provide a glimpse into the creative expressions and cultural heritage of the region.
In addition to the art, the museum also features a significant exhibition on the history of slavery. While this particular exhibit may not appeal to everyone on a personal level, it is crucial for understanding and acknowledging this impactful period in history. The museum's thoughtful presentation ensures that visitors leave with a deeper awareness of the past, making it a meaningful stop for anyone...

One temporary exhibition is "HOTCHPOTCH" (fashion), which is something that doesn't really interest me, but I can see how people that like fashion can also enjoy this exhibition. The other temporary exhibition is about slavery. I do understand slavery played an important role in the history of Zeeland, but in my opinion the focus is too much on slavery and racism of the current day which could be a part of any (history) museum. Comparing this exhibition to the permanent exhibitions that are actually about Zeeland, I expected more information (and focus) about the history of Zeeland for a...
