We were a friend group of 4 people who went to Duinrell amusement park and tiki bath. We chose to do the indoors tiki bath since it had the most slides and looked like more fun for us in our 20’s. We went at the earliest time (10-10:30) and I believe that was the best choice.
Before going, we did a lot of research on the website and the reviews on Google, and holy moly people love to complain about tiki bath for some reason???? I can not relate to 90% of all the hate comments, some of you are wild and have never been in a water park before. You see some hair and you’re saying the entire water park is super dirty? Grow up Karen. And how can you book inside tickets and be mad that you can’t go to the outside water park? Yall are crazy.
Anyways, back to the park. Entrance was simple and user friendly, no wristbands, only scanning of the ticket. Easy way to lock in your stuff too, did not cost anything (inside tiki bath, people.not outside). Some reviews said they got their stuff stolen when you have to have a personal code to your locker… idk about you all, but unless your code was 0000 or 1234 there’s no way anything can get stolen out of these lockers. They were very simple and perfect with space☺️ No dirt on the floor, no pee anywhere, no used diapers around and overall really nice (again people, we visited EARLY. If you’re allergic to seeing people have been there before you, book your stay earlier in the day.its as clean as a water park can be.) Shared wardrobes with stalls you can change in, only thing I really didn’t like is there’s no places to have a proper naked shower there. Only showers are close to the entrance to the water park and anyone can walk past. If you want to properly shower after or before going in, do it at home. This is actually the reason why I’m giving this park 4/5 stars and not 5/5. I missed a shower after the chlorine 😭
WE ARE NOW IN THE POOLS. No, the pools did not have so much chlorine that my eyes watered or I had to wash them with clean water? I think for some sensitive eyes you shouldn’t be in an inside water park if this is your reaction to the water, they have to have some chlorine to keep it clean guys. There’s NO swimming in the inside park, this is for having fun, doing slides, chill in the lazy river or wait for the waves in the pool. Do not come here if you want to SWIM, do your damn research before comming and COMPLAINING about there not being a swimming pool or too many kids. It’s a kids/youth area yall, or for anyone who love to have fun in the water. Some kids were a little more crazy than others but overall people behaved and the lines were not crazy. Now it’s high season,m and kids are off school, so you HAVE to expect some lines and a good amount of people. Today (my first time btw) it was between 10-15minutes way for slides. Overall, very doable. Not a problem at all. The water seemed clean, no blood stains, nothing sharp to cut yourself on. This is a good park and we all really enjoyed our stay.
The air is pretty hot inside but that’s mix of the good temperatures pools and the hot sun outside. Nothing you can do about it. Was a little noisy, but again. High season, come in the winter time if this bothers you so much.
I did not try the restaurant so cannot say anything about the prices or quality of food.
We changed, showered, and headed out to the amusement park.
Smaller than what I’m used to, but I would say it’s a perfect size for someone a little older (20+). We spent WAYY too much time in the arcade but oh my god it was so much fun. A little disappointed about the ticket-products though, unless you have like 10k+ tickets, most of the things you can spend your tickets on are for kids. But the arcade had so many different games and I really recommend this in the park. Carousels were really fun too, everything from slow to fast and if you want adrenaline you can find this here. If you just wanna chill that is also doable.
All 4 of us consider this an amazing day and we would definitely go again. Hope this review helps...
Read morePlease see below our email sent Duinrell which details the issues we had. Duinrells customer services were unwilling to help either at the time of our visit or since returning home and recieving this complaint. In fact they were quite rude! I wouldn't recommend Duinrell as a place to stay if cleanliness, safety and being able to actually cook meals to eat are anywhere on your priority list.
We wanted to write to you about our recent stay at Duinrell. We stayed in one of you premium Duingalows (808) from the 30th August-2nd September. Although we had a lovely time and enjoyed all the site had to offer, we were very disappointed with our accommodation.
What could have been some lovely accomodation was really let down for a number of reasons. Firstly the level of cleanliness was awful, we did tell reception about this 3 times and was told someone would come out to clean it the first time but nobody ever did, neither did they after the second and third requests. The walls were dirty, especially going up the stairs, there were lots of dead flies lining the window sill, the highchair was that filthy I had to go out and buy disinfectant before letting my baby anywhere near it. The hob was dirty with bits all over it, and our socks were black within minutes of being in the accommodation, so I'm not sure when the floors were last cleaned properly. The bottom of the bedside table fell off in my son's room, leaving sharp screws visible which could have been a danger to our children, however this was fixed quickly when we reported it. Our bedding for one room arrived with brown stains on it so we had to wait for that to be changed before we could make our beds.
The other really disappointing factor is this is advertised as a self catering accomodation for up to 8 people, we only had 6, but there is no way you could feed 8 people in this accomodation. We couldn't even cook a large pizza in the tiny combination 'oven' provided, let alone anything more substantial, meaning we had to spend alot more money eating out, something we had not budgeted for, nor particularly wanted to do with a 6yr old and a 5month old. There were also no instructions for the oven so we had to seek these out ourselves online, before we could cook our children their dinner on the first night. We even asked staff and they didn't know how it worked either.
Duinrell is a really lovely site but we have to say, for the money we spent on premium accomodation we expected alot more from it. During our holiday we visited other sites where we stayed in much much cheaper accomodation, but have to say that accommodation offered us much more in terms of practicality and especially cleanliness!
One other thing we wanted to mention was our first trip to the tikibad, it was absolute chaos, all the screens in the changing room said there was no lockers available, and the staff were having to check each locker individually to see which ones were free. This really ate into our swim time and caused a lot of stress as it was so busy and trying to hold a baby and keep track of our other child plus our belongings in a very busy and chaotic environment was difficult and stressful.
I also feel it would be a good idea to measure children on entry and give them some kind of wristband if over 120cm, as I lost count of the amount of times we had to drag our son out of the pool to have him measured over and over again by different staff. If they are measured once they should receive some kind of wristband for their stay to save staff the time of having to repeatedly measure the same children and to save children having to have their fun interrupted.
I hope these comments are taken in the way they are intended, we really did enjoy our time at Duinrell but it could have been made alot more enjoyable and less stressful with some simple...
Read moreAt the end of a lovely holiday, we were enjoying one final beer in the bar with my family. The kids were playing on the arcade games as usual. As my wife went to go to the bathroom she was confronted by two uniformed security staff and the bar manager, and prevented from walking out the door with my two 8 year olds and a 12 year old.
According to the security guys, one of the arcade machined had incorrectly given out some "tickets" to my children. They were accused of stealing and told the police would be called. As you can imagine this was quite a statement to be met with when trying to go to the bathroom. My wife insisted to be left go to the bathroom, which was eventually allowed by the head of security. While she was in the bathroom and washing her hands, she was watched through the open doorway the entire time by the male head of security. This was nothing short of intimidation.
At this point, I spotted the problem and went out with my other kids to see what was going on. The head of security physically stopped both myself and my teenage daughter walking up the stairs. He then insisted that only the 8 year olds could leave alone, after 9pm at night.
I instructed the head of security that he was not to prevent my kids from leaving, had no permission to interrogate them, and they were to leave un-harassed. I had to physically stand in his way while they left so they could not be detained by this security guard.
After a discussion, he again informed me the police would be called over the theft of the tickets the machine incorrectly gave to my kids. To be clear, these are the paper tickets that you collect to get a prize. I was told there was CCTV footage of my kids taking the tickets but when I asked to see it I was refused. After waiting almost 10 minutes I was shown the grainy footage of one of my kids in a group with others taking the tickets from the machine that was giving them out.
According to the bar manager, a door had been damaged on the machine to allow the jackpot to be won. They accepted that my kids had nothing to do with damaging the machine, and said it had probably happened earlier that day. I asked the head of security how many tickets had been taken - he couldn't tell me.
I asked the head of security the value of the tickets so I could pay for them and resolve the issue - he said they have actual value, only an "implied" value. The bar manager estimated that about 1000 tickets had been issued by the machine, which is enough to trade for a small toy of 5 or 6 euro value. This amount was rejected immediately by the security staff - it had to be the tickets that were returned.
Again the security guard said the police would be called, and he would come to my accommodation again first thing in the morning with "evidence" and to have us removed from the site. Having paid Duinrell over 2000 euro to Duinrell this whole incident was an absolute overreaction and nothing short of a farce.
After nearly 20 minutes of being intimidated by the two security guards, my wife pleaded with the bar manager (who was nothing short of a gentleman) for a resolution. We agreed with the bar manager that if the vouchers the kids had redeemed for the evening (After paying over 20 euro to get most of the tickets anyway), he would consider the matter closed.
We were eventually allowed to leave to go and find the vouchers. The small kids were now very upset and crying as they thought the police had come to take us to jail.
The intimidation by the security staff did not end here. My wife walked to our home to get the vouchers when a drone was flown from the security to DIRECTLY overhead, hovered overhead for a few minutes, then followed my wife back to the bar where she was returning the tickets. I asked the head of security for his name so I could make a complaint and this was...
