Read morePurpose built building. The outside is rather plain and doesnt necessarily enthuse you. The inside is fresh and modern. This is a great museum if you want to know the heritage of Ashburton, it was well presented. Themed displays covering the history. What was impressive was the Wall of Photos a mixture of new faces and old faces and the video of the struggles suffered by other cultures in moving to Ashburton. Well done - this provided a lot of insight. I was also impressed by the modern display - celebrating NZ radio - 'Sounds like Us' and in the childrens area - you could actually make your own paper radio and decorate it - everything supplied. What a fantastic idea. There was some interactive parts in the museum. This is a free museum. Donations welcome. Parking available all around the building.
