Stopped in on the way through Ashburton. Always keen for some eggs bene, and I’ve had a fair amount of eggs bene in my time. Initially you will look at the menu and think: “Really? $20 for some eggs bene?”
Let me tell you, well worth it. The hollandaise was unlike hollandaise I have had before. The sauce had notes of lemon within it which was a pleasant surprise and complimented the dish in such a delicate way.
The bread was different as well, being soft buns, lightly toasted which helped them absorb the yolk and sauce. Overall a pleasant dining experience and I would return for this eggs bene again if passing through, however would not drive out of my way from Christchurch just for it.
