FreshChoice Merivale — Attraction in Christchurch

Although this is not my regular Fresh Choice store, I have however visited it many times both pre & post refurb. The new Delli & butcher counters look spectacular....but thereafter, all the isles are narrow and muddled. I bought milk with an expiry date of 26-6-19: When I used it (19-6-19) there was a subtle but distinct taste of it being off. A couple of days later, I bought a 'Pre-cooked' Cottage Pie (Rosie's)...Revolting. Yesterday (21-6-19) I bought a 'fresh' loaf of sour dough bread from the 'in store bakery'. $6.99 I sliced (sawed) into it when I got home. House brick. Of the many supermarkets I use, this one falls short. The staff are attentive, professional, polite etc. (although often too few to meet demand). Although I genuinely appreciate customer service from staff, I also appreciate products to meet standards. I will not recommend anyone anytime soon to...

CHECK SELL BY DATES AT THIS STORE!! Convenient, well stocked supermarket. However, yesterday I bought pkt chilli mussels, $15, then at home realised they were 4 days out of date!! Funnily enough this happened to me 4 years ago. Returned to the store on that occasion and given refund PLUS new pkt of fresh mussels. Today, after a special trip back to Merivale store, I got a refund but I also enquired about another pkt of mussels for goodwill and inconvenience as before. Didn't think I'd have to keep checking dates at this store!! The nice Assistant spoke to manager -apparently butcher manager not on to report this so his Assistants on. I do not appreciate being followed by your security guard every time I go in I am young yes but I recently brought a house around the road and thought there would be no trouble of me going to by groceries and or snacks. Your security guard follows me around and when I’m checking out using my hard earned money she questions what I did with the item I had earlier when I just genuinely didn’t want it anymore. This isn’t the first time with the female security guard doing this I’ve been in with my partner my friends even my family and she still continues judge and look everywhere around me, It’s just my final straw I’m scared to go into your supermarket to be judged and questioned. Absolutely disgusting you shouldn’t pick and judge just cause I look young I have my own house my own job and money. Stop your security guard judging...
