The Milano Christchurch — Hotel in Christchurch

Very disappointed by the lack of anyone at reception on arrival. The notice on reception door directed us to a phone which “took a message”. About half an hour later, when the proprietors finally arrived we were given the key to a room which turned out to be different to that booked. No payment was taken. We were asked what time we were leaving, when we said about 0930, we were told to drop the key into the Dropbox. No one was at reception.

We were subsequently sent rude emails asking for us to send CC details so they could take the Tarrif from our account. No way.

Received: “Hi X & Y,

CC details are stored in a secure vault for securing bookings only. Payment is expected at Reception upon arrival.

Any damage, / failure to show /other costs incurred etc is sought through an application to these vaults & access to debiting CC for such. Keeps everyone’s details secure unless absolutely necessary/ reasons documented & verified.

Please find attached a copy of the invoice. Administrative issues you say you experienced are an expected/ common occurrence - a slight delay due to absence is acceptable. The manager lives at the premises & is not expected to be on site all the time.

There has been no mention of not being given the room specified when you booked. If the room was not to your standard then may I ask why you accepted & used the facilities - we would not want anyone to stay when they were not satisfied. This negotiation or intended barter would be best done at the time of booking in, not as compensation for accepted services rendered.

Clean, functional, convenient place to stay. We stayed at ground level, and was super convenient since we needed to pack and reorganize our suitcases for our trip home. Our car was packed just around the corner of our unit, so was easy to move our bags.||Supermarket was just 3mins drive away. Utensils and room facilities were so clean. They even provided instant soup for quick hunger pang fixes. ||Hosts were friendly and sweet.||The motel is outside the city. Most city hotels charged expensive parking, and we were so happy that parking was free in the motel and surrounding areas. To the airport, we were travelling against the traffic to the city, so avoided the jam although it was peak hours. Took us about 15mins to the airport.||This place is so perfect. We had simple dinner in the room, finished the 3rd movie of Lord of the Rings trilogy via Chromecast, just to revisit the sights we saw, in the warm soft bed with a cup of hot complimentary T2 tea. We have recently returned home after staying at the Milano motor lodge Christchurch.|We picked this motel solely on the great reviews and our budget.|Out of all the places we stayed at while travelling around New Zealand this was our favourite,|Other reviewers are right, the new owners really are lovely and very accommodating. |Our room had been recently renovated, and we were very impressed with the extra added touches, like the pretty decor, extendable magnifying makeup mirror in the bathroom, coffee machine etc.|The mattress was very comfortable, and the room was very quiet.|We found the location perfect even though we had a car, we ended up walking as everything is so close.|We will be recommending Milano motor lodge to friends and family, and we would definitely be returning...
