I stumbled into this place quite by accident. Fell in love immediately. Cool vibe, super chilled, Brixton the Dog (!), amazing tapas (pickled cauliflower to die for - top tip if you go).
I then booked the whole venue for a work function one late afternoon for an hour. Wine, beer, food - timed to allow staff to come and go and be done before dinner. We had about 40 there. Everything loved it. They are still talking about it. No-one knew it was there.
The following week we were out in the Merivale and Papanui area around 4pm. Desperate for a coffee. This was the only place open. And it was packed with locals having a wine, snacks, feet up , chilling. There is no where else like it in CHC. Very european vibe.
It's also in a spot on the papanui road strip you couldn't notice first up. Which is perhaps why yet, it's not as well known.
So it's a MUST GO, to check it out. Top tip - Sunday late afternoon when you aren't in a rush, with some friends - go and chill. You'll keep going back.

Read morei miss the former owners... they were so friendly and kind which made that place a regular spot for me. I am a bit sorry, will miss the place a lot but they lost a regular. If hair comes out of the food you prepared, you appologize, stop whatever you are doing and compansate the disappointment. You can not make the customer ask like its the...
Read moreMy three-weekly dog therapy along with superbly made oat lattes (best in town!!), are just two of the reasons that Six Ounces is now top of my list for chill-out time after work. Avi and Lois are most personable hosts along with the staff they employ - Edwin (bar tender manager), and Danny and Kate (baristas) After coffee indulgence whilst reading a good novel, topped off by the attentive Brixton (Avi and Lois' beautifully-tempered dog - the one in photos) and darling Cosmo (bar tender, Edwin's adorable dog) I feel reinvigorated to face the world again. If you are not acquainted with Six Ounces yet you will not be disappointed in your first visit to this fab cafe/wine...
