Nicholson Park provides great views over Sumner and a small playground (good swings and a slide) for kids with an amazing scenic backdrop. There was a baby basket swing, too. The vegetation in the park is being worked on since the days of neglect after the earthquakes. Paths down from the carpark to the centre of the park, then to the east, link up with Flowers Track zig zagging down the hill, and Whitewash Head Road, to make a 30 minute loop walk from the park, or could be walked upwards from The Sumner Lifeboat area.

Stunning views over Scarborough and right out to the Southern Alps on clear day. We went in winter and you'll definitely warm up walking the Flowers Track to get there but it's well worth it. Kids play area and restroom up there too. Beautiful gnarly old eucalyptus and some odd Dr Seuss looking succulents as well.

An easy walk-up from the beach. Lovely spot for a picnic or just relaxing. Grass area, playground, toilets available..if driving the carpark is close so it's easy to access. Water tap available for filling dog bowl. The Flower Track walk is close by too.

Gorgeous views, if your car can make it up the hill! Plenty of parking and even a public toilet. This little park is tucked away at the top of the hill between Sumner and Taylor's Mistake. There is a small playground there for kids, however the park itself is very steep, so buggies and prams would struggle. Rustic gravel paths wind their way down towards the bottom of the Bay, but it's muddy and quite steep, not to mention lots of people on mountain bikes flying past you. Don't underestimate the climb back up to the car park, it's rough. Fortunately, The Council have added lots of lovely seating and places to rest. We took fish and chips up here and ate them with spectacular views right across...

Quite a nice park because of its location on the top/side of the hill. A few interesting plants around. A shot of the suburbs/ coastline below is a bit harder to get than you would think considering the trees block most of the view. However there are a few openings between the trees where you can catch a glimpse. A nice park worth visiting if you are heading over to...
