Nz Native bush, a small waterfall, native birds, a decent walk and uninterruptef 360 degree views at the top...what more could you want!
Please note In some areas of Nz Kauri Dieback disease is an issue and trees eventually die from it. As a protective measure there are spray bottles and brushes by the footbridge, as you enter, so that you can clean your footwear before AND after your walk. I included a Pic for your reference :)
First we walked to the waterfall, it was like we had shown up on the 'LOST' set or stepped back in time. We made our way up to the viewing point and realised how unfit we were, lots of small breaks to catch our breath but it was totally worth it and needed the exercise.
The weather packed in but the tree canopy kept us pretty dry. Stairs and track are clearly marked, was a bit muddy towards the top which is to be expected this time of year. Hiking boots definitely won out over my cousins sneakers but shoes aren't a game changer...one guy ran 3 return laps in gumboots go figure!
Looking forward to returning on a sunny day/in summer. On a clear day you can just make out...
Read moreAmazing track to go on, fantastic views all round, if you've been on any of the waitakere tracks one will discover the stark differences between the west and east. Take a bottle of water and wear shoes as the track is muddy in places. Definitely worth the walk, great 360 degree view of all the surrounding areas when you reach the top, and only a 30min drive from Manukau city. Plenty of parking...

Lots of very friendly people on the track as well very curteous and also full of motivation. If your not that fit like me, allow for a 2 hour treck. Took us about an hour and a half up and half an hour down. But the view...
