We visited the newly established Clevedon Hallertau on Sunday evening. We arrived just after 5pm and the place had a busy vibe. It wasn't too packed out and we grabbed a nice table outside easily.
The ordering system needs a bit of fine tuning. Not just for the guests but also for the servers. We saw many servers not able to find the owners of the food as the table numbers had gotten mixed up in a few spots. Perhaps painting the numbers right o n the table will fix this. As a guest, we went to order beer and food as 2 people but only were told after our beer was poured that we needed to have a table first. So it ended up being 2 trips and 2 lines. I did notice a sign inside at the un-manned bar later that indicated this so maybe a few more of those around would help with that.
Beer was great and what we would expect of Hallertau! Yum. Normal prices for a pitcher of craft style beer and we definitely enjoyed it. I will definitely come here for a drink again!
We ordered a beef burger and some jalepeno poppers. The poppers were great- super crispy and a good kick of spice with creamy cheese inside. It was also a nice size order and there were plenty for $13 and 2 people. The burger looked really great - nice cheese and bacon jam on there and super crispy lettuce and tomato. The patty was chunky and had a perfect amount of pink to be yummy. Unfortunately the bun did not do the toppings justice and it was so dry it sucked up all that flavour. It was a bit gutting and I know this burger would shine with a nice steamed bun. The price point did not match the burger - $24 felt too steep for the quality of the burger. Also the 'chunkies' were fine but just added to the dry aspect as roasted potatoes have that powdery inside which is yummy when topped with gravy but not just with a burger. Overall, the burger was average and not good value. I wouldn't order it again.
The decor was really nice. The establishment clearly put a lot of money into it, and it was cosy inside and social outside. There were plenty of kids and families enjoying the outdoor space. Golf, connect 4 and toys made it kid friendly. Lots of space and seating style options which was great.
Overall, there seems to be some kinks to work out with the staff and systems and the burger was overpriced (compared to whatever local pub would have served for $15), but the atmosphere and beer was fabulous. I would definitely come back for a drink and maybe try another...

Hallertau was recommended to me from my sweet Airbnb host and Iβm glad I decided to stop by. Immediately walking in the staff was very friendly. I thankfully did not need a reservation and decided to sit in βthe gardenβ Biergarten which was a fantastic choice! The outside area is so charming with comfortable little tables perfectly spaced apart from others. It was quite chilly for me being that I am from hot and sunny California but I was happy to see they offered blankets! So kind!
After sitting down I went to the bar and ordered a tasting paddle of three gins and one whiskey all distilled on property! I was in HEAVEN. All 3 of the gins and the one whiskey were delicious but the heavy botanical gin was my favorite.
I ordered the wood fired Brie which came out beautifully topped with honey, walnuts, and rosemary.. I ate every bite.. and I would do it again! So very delicious. The restaurant got quite busy so to us being a holiday (queens memorial) but it never took away from the beautiful experience that is Hallertau. Hope to be back...
Β Β Β Read moreVery poor service. Had to wait 50 minutes for a glass of water and our drinks to arrive. When the tasting paddles arrived they stuffed up 3 of the paddles and we had to send 1 back as they had given us beer instead of cider. The food took even longer to arrive, thank God we had ordered starters! Food and drinks were tasty but service was extremely poor with no wait staff checking on us for food quality or to clear dirty dishes before the mains arrived. Had to keep going and asking staff for more water even though we were advised it was table service only, we had to ask at the bar for drinks as we were not being waited on. Ordered a second round of drinks and after 15 minutes followed up on were they were only to be told they had been made but not delivered to us. They then offered us complimentary drinks but still got my friends drink order wrong and then tried to charge us for these "complimentary" drinks at the end of the lunch. Not impressed especially for a birthday celebration. Doubt we will be back even though...
