Blue Elephant Thai Restaurant Clevedon — Restaurant in Franklin

This was our third visit to the Blue Elephant in Clevedon, and the first time we have been disappointed by the quality of the food. We had invited our friends out to dinner here as the previous times we had been the food and service were great. This time we ended up waiting over an hour between our entrees and mains, and when the food did arrive it was luke warm at best, and the plates it was served on were cold.

The restaurant was busy so maybe this poor meal was just a one-off experience but I don’t think our friends will be back again.

To top the night off we were unable to have our desserts of fried banana and ice cream as the table before us had the last of the bananas.

Also, this is the second time we have visited that the fire place has filled the place with smoke and has set off the fire alarm. It is very annoying having the sound of a fire alarm while trying to have a conversation.

We will be back to give it another chance but we will visits other restaurants in the Clevedon area before we go back. Hopefully the food will be up to the level expected by then as it is not a cheap restaurant to dine at.

I’m a firm believer of customer service and the impact it can make on your experience at any given establishment. It goes without saying that Blue Elephant have some of the most hospitable, polite and accommodating staff around. Karen and her team made our time here extremely comfortable and were always catering to any needs that we required. They even took the time to have a chat with us, which we found to be extremely thoughtful.

The facility is very tidy and ambient. We ate here on quiet a cold night and were pleased to find the restaurant was warm and was pleasantly lit. (Special mention to the beautiful fireplace located towards the rear side of the restaurant!)

Most important part of a restaurant review is the food, and I can happily say that the food was delicious. We ordered 3 entrees (Prawn Cakes, Satay Chicken Skewers & Spring Rolls) and 3 mains (Peanut Curry, Masaman Beef Curry and Pad Thai) and each dish was great.

If I had to critique anything, it would probably be the pricing. A bit expensive, but given the service we received, and the quality of the meals, we felt it was justified.
