Read moreGreat beach for a swim on a hot summers day when Onehunga is at high tide (especially when East Coast beaches are at low tide at the same time). This beach is perfect. You must swim an hour either side of high tide so that when you put your feet down you are on standing on the sandy bottom. At lower tide levels you will be further out to where it gets a bit muddy and has nasty Pacific Oysters, that can cut your feet, but at high tide it is fantastic.
