Gow Langsford — Attraction in Maungakiekie-Tāmaki

I wasn't in the least impressed by the standardized look of the white art factory atmosphere or the composition of the exhibition contents,it looked like a lot of leftovers from previous decades that didn't sell the first time round,so they dusted everything off for another rerun. The show had nothing that managed to transcend the mediocre and slapdash, derivative dogs dinner level of technique or conception, apart from a couple of figurative pieces. Overall the whole profile of this place gives me the impression of a commercial art outlet struggling for relevance! And they are flogging a dead horse that bolted back in the 1980s. A wonderful visit to Gow Langsford at their flagship gallery space in Onehunga. Beautiful works by Yafeng Duan 'Illuminations'. What a fabulous environment to display and discuss art. Also on site is a beautiful visual arts library with a superb collection of modern and historic art books. A must see and a huge asset to the local community.
