AC Baths & Thermal Hot Pools — Attraction in North Island

We came here as a family with two girls aged 5 and 8. Our 5 year old was measured for height restrictions on the water slide and granted entry. Measured again too, this time next to the water slide and again granted entry and we had a wonderful time for 3 hours of slides and swimming. During this time the staff manning the slide changed and each one measured our 5 year old before saying we could continue. Awesome. A few days later we return with our parents, brother, sister in law and their two kids. Water slide and swimming fun again commences but an hour in, one of the lifeguards who starts at the slide refuses our 5 year old, saying she has to be OVER the ruler line, not on it. Of course our daughter is inconsolable, crying her eyes out and we all leave. They reluctantly refunded our money, but I cannot stress how disappointing and upsetting this was for her. When we are in Taupo we like to stop in here for a swim. This last visit we stayed in Taupo properly for a few days (usually we are just passing through from the snow). We went to A C Baths three days in a row! My youngest couldn’t get enough of the place and this was her favourite way to end each day. My eldest found it a fun place to swim and relax. She was a little sad that she couldn’t go on some things because she was slightly too tall for some of the activities. But she still found some fun things to do. They have indoor and outdoor pools. Only attend child swim school here in - the swimming school is wonderful and has done wonders for my child. Edit 2020: I have now attended the gym facilities and have been to plenty of events here. They are friendly, professional and there is great parking. The personal facilities are always clean. There is a wonderful cafe here, lockers for your personal gear while you are working out or swimming. Life Guards are on duty and they do an amazing job. I would recommend AC Baths. Edit 2022: Was great for the children to be back post restrictions. Very quiet compared with before C19. I'm sure it will pick up again...
