Blake Park — Attraction in North Island

Close easy parking and plenty of it. Facilities great inside venue. Good views of pitch from anywhere on the ground. Food prices at the cricket reasonable. Only down point was not allowed umbrellas, told might hinder people's view. Could understand but said only for when it rains and at the stage the cricket would not be on. Be reasonable understand that NO UMBRELLAS during play but with NO shelter if it rains what are we supposed to do just go home or get wet. Might only rain for 20...

I stayed in the freedom camping area for one night. Quite quiet except for ships being loaded on the wharves during the night.

Years later. Looks like we're going to start to have some issues with freedom camp overstayers at Mt Club carpark. They are going to ruin it for everybody else. One set of rules for us all. Parking here for sport on Saturdays is mental. I always use the side streets and walk across Manganui Road. The coffee sold on site is utterly repulsive so go to New World first to get a pretty ok brew. Canteen on site does nice hot dogs and hot chips. Barely any shelter in the rain so bring the umbrellas...
