We were just studying quietly next to a group who was loud and didn't have their mask on when a bald security guy came telling them to go because of covid restriction but somehow we got kicked out too, because our stuff and us were next to them? We had our masks on all the time, did all the requirements and when we were leaving that same bald security guard came up again and threatened to call the police if we did not leave. As we were leaving I tried to top up my snapper outside the entrance but he came up to me again and told me that I had to leave. I tried to explain to him that we were not with them and were actually studying but he would not listen to a single word I said. He was rude from the start in his warning which although understandable came off as very aggressive. When he told us to go he became extremely rude to us, whom he assumed was breaking the rules. We totally understand the covid situation, however is it ok for a security guard to be that rude? I don't understand how he's supposed to know what was going on when he wouldn't listen to any of our explanations and was incredibly ignorant. That was very unprofessional and I am very disappointed in how he acted. If this is the kind of behaviour repeatedly done by employees at Johnsonville library I will not be going back there...
Read moreThis “library” even though newly built is awful. The lack of thought that has gone into the amount of noise that is generated from the cafe, and the children’s spaces, etc. this space also appears to be a drop off space for children to hang out in with books rather than a library. I tried to get some study done but had teenagers running up and down the stairs socialising, talking loudly, children playing and the noise of cutlery, crockery and the coffee machine from the cafe. This is not a quiet space for reading or study. I’d avoid going here especially on weekends or after school if you are looking for the quiet of a library. The architect of this building failed to meet the needs of the a library. This feels more like a community centre. As suggested by another reviewer, they should have added another floor to accomodate some adult, without children, space, if they couldn’t accomplish a fully functional library for the...
Read moreThis is the worst library i have every visited - all style and no substance. This opened 6 months after the closure of the central library so the priority should have been on packing in as many books as possible (at least on an interim basis) but the opposite is the case - VERY low shelves, lot''s of wasted space and very low shelving density so very few actual books. Also poor signage inside and out - the world "Library" seems to have been outlawed. The 1 star is for the only positive - the staff do try hard...
