The Tirau i-SITE Visitor Information Centre is an exemplary hub that seamlessly blends functionality and charm, offering a welcoming gateway for tourists exploring the region. Nestled in the heart of Tirau, this information center stands out not only for its practical role in providing visitors with essential guidance but also for its distinctive architecture.

The center's architectural uniqueness, notably the iconic corrugated iron dog and sheep structures that serve as the building's facade, adds a touch of whimsy and local flair to the overall experience. This attention-grabbing design not only fulfills its practical purpose as a landmark but also embodies the town's character, creating a memorable and Instagram-worthy backdrop for visitors.

Inside, the Tirau i-SITE excels in providing comprehensive information about local attractions, accommodations, and activities. The staff, known for their friendly demeanor and extensive knowledge, go above and beyond to assist visitors, ensuring they have a well-informed and enjoyable stay in the region.

Moreover, the center serves as a cultural hub, showcasing local arts, crafts, and products, allowing visitors to take a piece of Tirau's unique identity with them. This dual function as an information center and a cultural showcase adds depth to the visitor experience, making it more than just a stop for maps and brochures.

The Tirau i-SITE Visitor Information Centre thus stands as a model for how such facilities can be more than just practical necessities. It is a testament to the town's commitment to hospitality, tourism, and community engagement, making it a valuable asset for both visitors and...

Tirau is always a highlight of any road trip, a charming and eccentric stop that I look forward to every time. While it's a quick drive-through, the town's unique character and historical significance make it a destination in its own right. I'm especially glad that it hasn't been bypassed by the new expressway roads, allowing travelers to continue to experience its distinct charm. The town's true magic lies in its artistic use of corrugated iron. Tirau has become a living monument to this humble material, with incredible sculptures and buildings that are both whimsical and historically significant to New Zealand. It's a place where you can see creativity and history merge in the most unexpected ways, making every corner a photo opportunity. This is more than just a stop; it's a small slice of New Zealand's artistic and historical spirit, perfectly preserved and presented for...

PublicToilets need to be in better condition. Remove the doors completely from Toilets. Use rain water tanks for running water. NZ has a lot of rain. It's cheap and free running water. Local council should employ staff to spray water on the floor. In Korea, Japan Singapore public Toilets are tidy and clean.

It is a health hazard to have such smell. Understand its not in your control how people do their business but this is a small service provided by council for...

My rating is actually based on the metal sculptures of animals on top of the buildings there and in the rest of the town, as the Info Center was closed when I came through. The dog and two sheep reflect the livelihood of many of the locals, plus give a sense that these people don’t take themselves too seriously. This is a darling little town, with cute shops and places to eat, and it’s only about 15 minutes from Hobbiton.

There's no much parking space around it but you can still manage to find one. The place is cool. It has different rooms to enter and explore souvenir shop, op shop and the information center. The Dog and the Lamb. It's nice, you can just stop by and explore around the area. There's a lot of cafe and restaurant nearby.

The ladies at the iSite are super helpful. Bit disappointed when i found out that the iSite dont sell/a miniature resin copy of the cute sheep and dog tin-roof sculpture. 🙃
