Stopped in Tirau on our way back to Auckland from Rotorua for some breakfast. We initially stopped on the main rd and had intentions of eating in a cafe/bakery along the main drag but there weren't enough tables to seat our crew of 9 (they have ample tables, but they were very busy and had a lot of patrons and most of the tables were taken). We spotted Enchanted Cafe just off the main rd and decided to eat here. I'm very glad we did. From the moment we stepped in the door, we were greeted by friendly staff, who were also very accommodating to us. We ordered 9 meals, 2 x Eggs Bene w/salmon, 3 x Big enchanted breakfast, 1 x bacon and eggs, 1 x Open steak sandwhich that came with a whole scotch fillet steak, not strips of steak and it was cooked to perfection (according to our daughter, this is the best open steak sandwhich she has had and she's had a few from a few different places), our 2 littles that were with us got a hotcakes kids meal and the cheese toastie meal), I was surprised at how fast our meals came out and all at the same time and our food was delicious. Thank you for our delicious fathers...
Read moreWe waited for an hour or so for our food, we ordered 1 special, curly fries and melting moment. I had added extra food to our order after 30mins of waiting as my daughter miss 7 was hungry, bacon & egg pie from the cabinet and a toasted sandwich. The special was very small and not worth $14.50, The curly fries were small portion & didnt seem freshly cooked. 2 lots of tables who arrived after us got there food and drinks before us, at this stage I asked for a refund for bacon & egg pie, toasted sandwich which was 17.50 for both. The tables were not cleared of dishes from previous customers which made it hard to get a place to sit, I ended up getting there cloth and cleaning spray for our table we sat. The entire time we were there each time they brought food out to customers not one dirty used plate from tables were taken away. The one thing we did enjoy was our coffee which a young guy made .... cappuccino and...
Read moreStopped here for a break on the way down south. It's located slightly away from the main road, so it felt more private than the other cafes around the area. I ordered an Open Steak Sandwich and a long black. The coffee was decent. And the food was unexpectedly delicious. I was amazed at how thick the steak was, the simplicity of a slice of cheddar cheese, and the sweet onion marmalade was great. I wish they added some greens to balance the dish out, though. This is minor, but the cutlery with serviette wrapped around was covered with the marmalade, which made my hand really sticky straight off the bat lol. Coming from Auckland, I knew of the high transmissibility of Covid in an indoor space. I wish they left some windows ajar to creat some airflows. Keen to come back again to try...
