Welcome to West End Reserve in Ohope, New Zealand - a beach lover's paradise! This stunning stretch of coastline offers an abundance of activities, making it the perfect destination for a fun-filled day out. If you're a shell collector, you'll be delighted with the variety of shells you can find while strolling along the beach. And the best part? The beach is never too crowded, giving you ample space to explore and enjoy the tranquil surroundings. But that's not all - West End Reserve Beach also offers surfing lessons for those looking to ride the waves. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced surfer, the instructors are friendly and knowledgeable, ensuring that you have an unforgettable experience. And let's not forget about our furry friends! Dogs love running and playing on the beach, and at West End Reserve Beach, they can do just that. Your furry companion can chase birds or play ball to their heart's content while you relax on the sand and soak up the sun. The locals are friendly and welcoming, always happy to share their knowledge and help you make the most of your time at the beach. And when it's time for a break, you can head over to one of the many cafes or restaurants nearby, offering a range of delicious snacks and refreshments. In summary, West End Reserve Beach in Ohope, New Zealand is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. With its peaceful surroundings, exciting activities, and friendly locals, it's the perfect destination for a day out with friends, family, or even your furry companions.

What a glorious place to swim, even in early spring time. Ohope Beach is consistently banned New Zealand's favourite beach, and its not surprising. It's a safe swimming beach, a beautiful place to be, and not ever crowded. In the summer there are lifeguards on duty. The added bonus is the plentiful shell fish - tuatua everywhere - just take a bottle to fill with sea water to soak them over night, so they spit out their sand.

Overnight stay in freedom camping area. 5 others last night. Very quiet. Public facilities satisfactory. A basic sink & bench to rear of public toilets would help fellow campers. Highly recommend spot but arrive early.

It has panoramic views, no problem eith parking, it's quite a busy lively place where people are either surfing walking on the beach or sitting on the bench waiting for their turn to surf or enjoying the scenery and having something to eat,the surfing classes can also be going on that starts with first hour theoretical eg.using the surf boards properly on the grass, followed by the practical lesson on the surf and it's amazing to see students standing on their surf boards even before the second hour ends. The toilets are very artfully painted with native faunas/floras, surfers can rinse outside, and has changing rooms...
