About 3-4 years ago (and on my first visit) to the campsite it appeared abandoned and not necessarily campers first option. Since then the place has employed a new caretaker, grounds are tidy, council has approved for a large waste bin, showers, toilets are sanitised regularly and are absolutely spotlessly cleaned. The upgrade has seen a mass increase in the number of campers and it's popularity sometimes makes it difficult to comply with the 3m gap between campers rule š. Additional powersites, taps on powersites and a PIN controlled security gate would definitely be a winner with campers...

It has a shower and toilet block with a wash up area for your dishes. $7:50 pp/pn for an unpowered site. Cheap as chip!!!!! It is really well looked after by the patrons and cleaned every day by the Palmy Council.. WELL DONE PALMY..
Auckland needs to take note of this domain in Ashurst. Auckland don't cater for anything like this. This is why freedom campers leave a mess behind in Auckland. Because AC simply refuse to offer these wonderfull...
