Must visit for nature lovers butI found pros and cons both. Pros:

✅ Breathtaking Coastal Views – The park offers dramatic cliffs, crashing waves, and panoramic ocean views. Perfect for photography and nature lovers. ✅ Black Sand Beach – The volcanic black sand adds to the park’s unique charm, though it can get very hot on sunny days. ✅ Gannet Colony – One of the biggest attractions, the gannet nesting site offers a rare opportunity to observe these beautiful seabirds up close from a viewing platform. ✅ Great for Surfing – Muriwai Beach is popular among surfers due to its strong waves, but swimming can be risky due to powerful currents. ✅ Walking & Hiking Trails – There are scenic tracks like the Maukatia Bay Track, offering fantastic views. ✅ Sunset Spot – A great place to watch the sunset over the Tasman Sea. Cons:

❌ Very Windy – Strong winds can make the sand blow onto your face, especially on the beach. ❌ Dangerous Surf – The waves and rips can be powerful, so it's important to swim only in patrolled areas. ❌ Can Get Crowded – On weekends and summer days, it attracts a lot of visitors, making parking difficult. ❌ Limited Facilities – There are restrooms and picnic areas, but not many food options nearby, so it’s best to bring...

The rocky area is beautiful and there are many natural birds here. Nearby is a long wide beach, strong wind. There are many parking areas around, can park camvan. From the parking lot to the view point is quite close and easy to walk.

Muriwai is a black sand beach on the West Coast of Auckland There is an 18 Hole golf course parallel to the beachfront which is fun to play. Some of the fairways and greens have great views of the ocean. Horse trekking on the beach front and mountain bike riding in the Pine Forest. Fishing from The Rocks at the south end or surf casting from the beach all the way up to South Head. If you have a permit from council you can take a four-wheel drive vehicle onto the beach but Drive responsibly. Great fish and chip shop halfway down the road to the beach. Surfing can be good if the conditions are right. Be careful during summer make sure you have footwear black sand can...
