The Boat House at The Riverhead — Attraction in Rodney

We had our wedding at the boat house at the Riverhead on the 2.5.25 and I have to say this is the most perfect venue and staff. I want to firstly thank Diane, Grant and their team for their hospitality and hard work. We had a fantastic day and it was so special and the team and venue was such a big part of that. They were helpful and engaging with us from the first contact all the way through, they were great in helping with rehearsals and any special requests such as having a dry wedding and served us on the day all our food which was all delicious. The biggest thank you and proof of their effort to go the extra distance was on the day of our wedding there was thunder and lightning all morning and we were holding out hoping it would stop. By 12:30pm we resided to the fact that it would be an indoor wedding which we would have been happy with as we love the indoor option too but that outdoor option was our number 1 choice. The weather started to let up and the guests started to arrive, 5 minutes before the ceremony started. Diane and her team organised our guests and helped to move all the decorations and chairs from indoor to outdoor as the sun came out just so we could have the outdoor ceremony we pictured. They took care of us greatly and we will forever be thankful for making our wedding exactly what we wanted and we will cherish it for the rest of our lives. So if you are a bride or groom to be and you are reading this trying to decide where you want to get married, it’s a big thing and nerve racking I know. A disappointing experience at this establishment tonight in regards to the meal and drinks served.

Bar person who took my meal order and drinks. No interaction or conversation while taking the order for the people I was with. No thanks after taking my payment and not wishing me a happy and rewarding experience at her bar / restaurant. Felt they really didn’t want to be there.

A meal for one of us - Vegetarian burger - was tough and referred to as eating cardboard. In fact the person didn’t even eat all the meal.

Another staff member was chewing gum while in the restaurant. Not good while serving food.

We completed our meal and then continued to play pool. The bar staff made it quite clear that they were cleaning up and it made us feel that we needed to drink up and leave. Staff member cleared our table with no conversation or asking how we found the food!

So we decided that we didn’t feel welcome and that we should leave.

Unfortunately on leaving we were thanked only by 1 staff member and the rest made no effort to thank us.

Really need to ask why they are there? If they don’t enjoy it then they shouldn’t be there.

I would say that it portraits a succinct lack of management and leadership skills.

I am disappointed because it is a nice location, a nice bar and surroundings but unfortunately let down by unprofessional management and staff. I had been looking forward to it as the place was recommended to me. I even drove some distance...

I just wanted to send you an email now the madness is all over.

You and the team including Liv and Georgia on the day have been the most amazing team to deal with. They day went so smoothly and bar the wind destroying my seating chart lol it was everything we could have wanted it to be.

The team was fantastic on the morning of the set up!!

The food was exceptional. The canapés were phenomenal (churros were a success), the dinner was so delicious with the whole sirloin cooked to a perfect medium rare and desserts and late night snack were equally of high praise!!!

I can't believe our bar tab lasted the night lol!!!! Especially with that many poms and scots attending!!

And lastly to Grant, you have been the most wonderful, kind and calming influence on our whole experience. From the first day you were engaging and insightful and we felt so comfortable in your hands. The fact you came on your day off to check in and then take down the umbrellas before they took off was just the most amazing way to make us feel special. You my friend, are a large part of why we chose the Boathouse as our venue. I hope the owners know what a remarkable man they have working for them and we will be recommending you all to anyone who will listen!!
