I had a fantastic experience visiting the Lakes District Museum & Gallery in Arrowtown. The museum is a great place to learn about the local history, especially the fascinating gold rush era and the lives of the early settlers. The exhibits are engaging and informative, with a mix of historical artifacts and interactive displays.
The highlight of my visit was the gold panning experience, which I did with the help of Zack, one of the staff members. Zack was incredibly knowledgeable and made the whole experience fun and memorable. He guided me through the process of panning for gold and shared interesting stories about Arrowtown’s mining history.
I highly recommend this museum to anyone visiting Arrowtown – it’s a great way to dive into the town’s history and try something unique like gold panning. Thank you, Zack, for making it such a...
Read moreFantastic treasure for Arrowtown and Lakes District. It encompassed a huge time span, and the work and detail gone into tracing human/Maori habitation alongside developments geologically was incredible, there is a lot of work in that display alone. Being able to see, albeit a small glimpse, into the hardships, courage, tenacity of early settlers in this rugged mountainous wilderness that led onto the society that is present today was an informative education. A bonus was a display by local artists, quilting work that is high quality and vibrant in it's artistic display. Supporting locals at its best. A great variety of items in the gift shop, which I always give my $$ happily, well done to the members of this Museum and...

Don't misunderstand we do understand that with the current situation that museums and other touristic attraction need all the support they can get which we usually always decide on donating extra couple of dollars at the end of our "museum walk through"
Did not end up going in but it is not reason enough to give it a bad feedback....
