Everything is perfect, except the old lady (owner/manager). The attitude, poker face and sour voice is totally pull down the quality of the “must visit cafe in Arrowtown”.
When I were make an order for my family, the young lady is super nice and friendly. The old manager stand next to her and gave me a white eyes when we are talking about the difference between Hot chocolate and Balies hot chocolate. Unfortunately I saw her rolling her eyes!
Then the whole experience was great during the young lady served us and the surrounding people are friendly. In the end of our coffee time, my father and my sister’a husband need to went to bathroom. And the old lady (manager/owner whatever) told them to leave and went outside the public bathroom because she thought they are not buying anything.
Fortunately, my sister’s husband took a picture of the drinks and shown it to the old lady as a prove of they are the customer!!! Then the old lady allow their use the bathroom. But without an apology!!!!!
They went back to our table and told me this awkward situation and make me very uncomfortable! I went to the front desk and told the old lady “Thank you for your WONDERFUL coffee” and leave.
The first mind in my mind is she is racist. Because of we are Asian, and the day we went to this store there are plenty of white people. However, I read the other comments found that is not about racism because others also experienced the same sour situation from the old lady in the cafe.
Secondly, I assumed that she is homophobia. Because that day I wear full make up walked in the store. Hahahaha, maybe I am too pretty? Just kidding.
I do will recommend this place for a drink but just ignore...
Read moreok so when me and my family got here we weren’t very noticed for quite a long time with an empty table.. and so eventually a waiter noticed us after 7 or so minutes and asked what we wanted. We explained that we cannot order yet because we don’t know the menu - there were no menu sheets or booklets at our table so they had to grab us some. To add to that as well that they took REALLY long to get us the menu and notice that we need to order, waiting that long gets me kinda pissed just only to read the menu AND another bonus wait to order which took at least 6 minutes. Firstly, they got our order wrong but I’m not really mad at that because the coffees we ordered might’ve been mixed up with other customers, therefore everyone makes mistakes, but when my dad got his coffee, the plate underneath was terribly FILLED with coffee and my dad had to place some tissue underneath- they could have maybe wiped it out clean or even get him a new one but they did not, and they also did not apologise for the coffee spill either. Next, my sister got a long macchiato with a strand of hair inside it. The foam looked really AWFUL🤮 .. Seriously it looked like an eight year old could do better! And they taste did not taste any better. The foam just looked really bad. Lastly the food was overly expensive for the quality and the proportion they serve for each dish. NOT...
Read moreVisited on Easter Monday. Arrowtown was extremely busy. My star rating is due to the awkward vibe and rather stressful experience.
We couldn't see any menus so queued in a line which was nearly to the door. We asked and were politely told to take a seat and someone would come serve us. We eventually found a table after standing around and carefully watching for people leaving their tables.
My partner asked to swap the mushrooms for tomatoes in the Vegetarian Eggs Benedict, which was fine, (we were glad we checked the receipt afterwards and asked for the extra $5 charge to be refunded) after all, we were paying a 15% holiday surcharge.
We ordered coffees before we ordered our meals, our meals came and we had finished them, still no coffee!
When we were paying we canceled the coffee order as they still hadn't been made. I'm not sure what happened, we had staff try bring coffees that weren't ours to our table number twice.
I found it amusing the lady serving said "we're running on high-school kids and have no staff" because after leaving we went to an extremely busy- but calm coffee spot around the corner which looked like it was totally run by high-school kids, it was so chill and such a great vibe.
Eggs Benedict was average as,...
