Wolf coffee shop is located on the popular Buckingham Street in Arrowtown.

To avoid confusion, ‘Wolf Coffee Roaster’ are only in New Zealand and if google happened to mis-spelt, you would have landed on ‘Wolff Coffee Roasters’ which is an Australian speciality coffee originating in Queensland.

Whenever I travel, I like to try coffee from different places. Normally I search on google to find recommendations, but for this visit it wasn’t planned and we just walked-in. It was a weekday, just after 2pm and Arrowtown is almost like a ghost town. We were the only ones in Wolf at time so the service was quick. To be honest we didn’t find the coffee great, it was too milky for our liking and could barely enjoy the coffee bean flavour. I guess specialty coffee is always best enjoyed brewed or dripped, but no exception the a nice cup of coffee should still taste good with milk.

What I did like about Wolf, is their in house roasting. You can sit-in and watch while you drink coffee, how coffee beans are roasted which can be...

One of New Zealand's most underrated coffee roasters.

Wolf Coffee Roasters are quietly roasting away down in the beauiful historic town of Arrowtown while taking over the Otago coffee scene one roast at a time.

Wolf Coffee Roasters say they roast speciality coffee and speciality is the keyword. I have been lucky enough to sample multiple bags from Wolf Coffee Roasters and they have been some of the best coffees I have consumed in the past 12 months. Alex & Dev really know what they are doing and have released some absolutely incredible coffee's that are far better than anything or anyone else you will find down in the Otago region.

What are you doing reading this review? Hurry up and purchase a bag of coffee already! Take it from me. It won't dissapoint!

Big love, Wolf Coffee Roasters. Keep killing the game.

Best batch brew I've ever had in my life. This isn't a chain cafe and shouldn't be treated as such. This is true coffee culture trying to navigate a monopoly in a town (thankfully) void of Starbucks. These are people who have a lot of knowledge on technique. It's a place to place your confidence in them and set your notions aside. It's very rare to have a black coffee so exquisitely balanced. A perfect coffee leaves nothing to be desired. It's a moment of meditation where the brains only focus might be identifying notes on the nose (in this case it was like the blueberry from heaven). The properties of the coffee; the balance between sweet and bitter, the acidity, the scent riding in the steam, all bring the mystery of the complex yet familiar notes to the forefront. Oh, and the doughnuts here are...

Amazing local cafe nestled in the heart of Arrowtown, one of the best coffees I’ve had in the South Island. Whole experience was enjoyable, from the welcoming and patient staff, the atmosphere of locals and visitors chatting on top of the sounds of roasting beans and then finally the coffee itself. Won’t lie, pretty busy at all times, but I believe that’s a testament to the craft and draw of good coffee. Makes it even better when you get a table outside to people watch in the sun. Great range of beans to take home too. Bought myself a bag of coffee (Indonesian single origin, really excited for those), incredibly smelling and a joy to brew at home. Will certainly make a detour next time I head down to Queenstown.

Had the best iced mocha I’ve tried anywhere in the Queenstown area. Despite the long lines, service was impressively quick and genuinely friendly both times we visited. On our first visit, there weren’t any baked goods available, but the second time we got a ham and cheese croissant - I think supplied by the Boat Shed Bakery. The only thing holding back a fifth star is the lack of a cozy, sit-down space. It’s more of a grab-and-go setup, and it gets very busy. Still, the quality and service make it worth a stop.
