Patagonia Chocolates — Restaurant in South Island

So this place by all means should be a 5 star. Really good food, drinks, selection, everything. But while we were waiting a lady came back in because the cone her ice-cream was in had split right down the side. The lady told the staff she had an emergency about 5 times with ice cream running down her hands and onto her expensive looking clothes. The first staff member rudely blew her off and then the old lady rudely made her go out and get 2$ before she would let her put it upside down into a 5c icecream tub. The lady just paid the money and took that mess back to her kid who was sitting outside in the cold waiting for her mum and icecream. Honestly i wanted to dump my ice-cream on the staff but the wife told me off before I did. We went outside and apologized to the family on their behalf. We understand it was busy but that was a disgusting way to treat someone who was asking for help and with the product she'd just bought from your store.

Remembering it now is actually pissing me off again. So im changing what was a 4 star to a 2 star. Treat others how you wish to be...

Terrible service from one of the front of house girl. This happened about 1-2 weeks ago. English isn't my first language so I was stuttering a bit when making my order, this dark-haired girl immediately said "tell us when you're ready" then turn her head away even though I responded at the same time "I'm ready" and tried to call her back with a reasonable volume that I'm sure she could hear, she still ignored me with an attitude like she knew I was calling her but tried to show me that she is higher than the customers. I stood there for a while until another nice lady saw me. It was not busy at all, only one person behind me and he wasn't ready either. I lived in QT for 3 years and have always met good staff here until this day. Sad to see this place lose its...

Hot chocolate is great here, it’s thick but not as viscous as the one from Mrs Ferg and also slightly less sweet. You’ll like it - as I do - if you don’t have much of a sweet tooth.

Desserts are all really good, I’ve tried many over different times - waffles, crepes, brownies, creme brûlée, Afghans. I love the orange coconut cake (vegan). Also their chocolate products are high quality and make great gifts.

Cremino ice cream is pretty awesome if you like hazelnut - it gives Mrs Ferg’s hazelnut gelato a run for their money in my opinion.
