Paddle Tekapo — Attraction in South Island

I had a great time kayaking, and the lake views were beautiful! The location was convenient, and the equipment was in great shape. However, one aspect of our interaction was disappointing. We were told to wait 10 minutes for another boat, and when it arrived late, we were informed that our session would be slightly shorter due to the closing time. As I was packing my things into the dry bag (which was nice of them to provide), the owner scolded me, saying, 'This is eating into your paddling time.' Pete made it super easy to rent a kayak at the lake. It was 30 NZD for an hour for a single kayak, or 50 NZD for a double. He provides a dry bag with the rental which was helpful. I was able to text him to confirm he was open prior to arriving, since sometimes they have to close for strong winds. He also posts on Instagram apparently if they are closed for the day. Just as a heads up, he probably has about 4 double and 6 single kayaks (I didn’t do an exact count), so you may have to wait a bit if you’re looking for an specific kayak and they are already out on the lake.
