Stayed on their front row sealed powered site. Beware if u are booking the front row powered site 2months before arrival date, u most likely will get a view of the sailing club shed blocking 80% of your lake view. Feedback to the reception and was informed cos I book late (2months in advance) so I’m getting the least scenic front row. I suggest for everyone booking late (2 months in advance) like me to go for their normal powered site which is situated higher up and won’t be block by the sailing club shed. U will get a good clear view of lake Tekapo and save the money. After asking and requesting to downgrade to their normal site, the recep lady ultimately move me 4sites away saying since the booker haven’t check in. So now my view is at least not directly in front of the shed. (Attached my site, can imagine the more right u are, the more blocked view by the shed and also the trees on the right, technically u won’t be able to see much of the lake. So getting a normal powered site which is located higher up will give u a much better view)

Tiny kitchen, which is not suitable for family of 4 to eat in. V limited seating space. Most of the ppl just cook and eat either in their camper or the tables outside.

Timed 6min hot shower is a joke for the price paid. Didnt have issues w any other park where there’s no timed shower. Didn’t have to wait more than 5min everywhere else so I don’t know why they are enforcing this.

Other than these, the park itself is lovely. A lot of wild bunnies and ducks roaming around. And also seagulls, so do look out for food if eating outside. Overall a beautiful clean park situated on the...

No communication after contacting the management twice by email. I arrived on the 5th of March and was early and told I could not get my cabin as check in was 3pm and it was around 2.30. The staff member also told me there were no fridges in the room & I was only in for 1 night when I said it was 2. On hearing this the other lady said that the cabin did have a fridge & as it was already cleaned we could check in then. It was my mistake as I did not check my paperwork so thought this was the case. the cabin was clean but really cold & the heater didn't work. We left at 8am the next morning as we had a long trip ahead. Reception was closed with a sign ,open at 9am, on the door. We left the key in the box. After arriving at our next destination I realised our booking was for the 5th & 6th so I rang at around 2.30pm to speak with the lady who did remember me & told me that they did have new staff members and it was unusual to have the cabin booked for 2 nights. I was also given the email address to contact & see if I could get a refund as I said I wouldn't be back as it was 5 hours away. the email was sent at around 3pm. I have it in my sent box. There was plenty of time to let the room again & at no time did anyone ring me or contact me by email. The email that was sent to my travel agent was absolutely laughable. I did reply to this managers email and of course no reply. Our month spent in NZ was amazing at every other place we stayed but if you stay at Lakesedge don't pay in advance. I was aware I wasn't getting a refund but to read the lies sent in my agents email There is obviously NO communication...

Their website advertising front powered site with lake view price $80 per night so after checking photos on their website we booked their front site. they made photos look like we can park our caravans right by the lake but when we checked in the actual site was miles away from the lake and the view we got was the toilet block , the big block of Tekapo cruising club building and large pine trees these blocked the view and different from their website descriptions this is misleading I have included photos of their actual marketing photos and photos we took as proof.

Reception is far away from actually campsite if you need something from them you have to drive down or long walk this is not convenience for elderly or people with disability. Calls no answers camp manager claim their staffs was too busy to answer so another excuse.

wifi is sometimes works with very poor signal despite of camp owner claim they have improved its service we only stayed there 2 weeks ago so all excuses.

We did request them to move us to the correct site as advertised photos but they refused. Because we travelled with other family and friends as group so we couldn’t leave otherwise we would immediately have left after experienced such nasty attitude from camp managers.

We travel a lot and camping across Aotearoa NZ all places we’ve been people are so welcome and friendly except this one. this campsite is more suitable for medium camper vans not caravans or buses. This region has a lot to offers tourists we will be back but will spend our $$$$ elsewhere. Not...

Our single night's stay at a powered site was good in many ways. Except for one unexpected detail that I'd missed and it caused my wife some discomfort. Prior to our NZ trip, we'd only been on one other motorhome holiday 2 years ago in Australia. Based on that experience, I'd wrongly assumed that holiday parks in NZ and Australia are broadly similar. Hence I hadn't checked and didn't know that a number of NZ holiday parks have a time limited hot shower. At Lakes Edge that's 6mins (I've since discovered that some parks also set a 6mins limit). So ask yourself. Can you shower in under 6mins? I can, easily. But others, including my wife, can't. She can if she's forced to, but then she'd be unhappy. What's the point of being on an unhappy vacation? So when she found out, we had a long discussion, seriously this is how much a long hot shower meant to her. From a business and operation viewpoint, I understand why park operators do it. But still it's a firm deal breaker for us. Thereafter, I made it a point to steer clear of holiday parks with time limited showers, even if we had to detour or change our plans, or miss out on nice views. That issue aside, Lakes Edge is a pretty nice place to park up. We'd paid a bit more for a front row lake view site. And we were also near the shared kitchen/shower facilities which is useful when the temperature drops. The kitchen is not big for a park of this size but it is quite clean. So if you plan to cook and dine in the kitchen, it's best to plan ahead especially if you see the park is busy.
