A lot of things made me unhappy. For starters, customer service is terrible and very inflexible. I arrived early (11h) and checkin was later (From 14h), I just wanted access to the shared kitchen area so I could store my refrigerated items and cook my lunch, I was denied that request, I could only access the kitchen after the checkin, which was ridiculous, since its a shared area and there were other people inside already. Other points are: The rooms are very tiny, an chaotic experience with others in the room. The shared areas, especially the bathroom is not as heated as the rooms, so to use the bathroom or the kitchen, you must wear clothes as if you were to go outside. Also, the kitchen wasn't well equipped, just a few utensils, not much to work with. There are a lot of rules everywhere, with a very rude tone if you don't comply. And you have to make and unmake your bed, just keep that in mind. This has been the worst experience...

The environment at this backpacker's hostel was fantastic, and the staff provided excellent service. However, the walls in the rooms were as thin as paper and offered no soundproofing whatsoever. Whenever someone walked in the hallway, it sounded like a drumbeat, along with noises from opening doors and vibrations. This made it extremely difficult to get a good night's rest, as various sounds and vibrations would disturb me as early as 6 o'clock in the morning. I've stayed in backpackers in Queenstown, Wanaka, Dunedin, Oamaru, Kaikoura, and even small towns on the West Coast, but this one provided the worst overall experience. I hope the establishment can improve its...

This hostel is located just a few minutes from the center of Lake Tekapo, making it easily accessible by foot or car. The entire place is fully heated, both in the rooms and common areas, which made our winter stay incredibly cozy and comfortable. The kitchen is spacious, and all the utensils are in great condition. The living and dining areas are also very comfortable and well maintained. Not to mention the incredible view of the lake from the common living room.

We stayed in a four-person room, and although the space was a bit tight, it was still perfectly manageable. The bathrooms were well-equipped, clean, and very nice.

By far, the best hostel I’ve stayed at in...

Good option if you want something cheap. On the whole a great place, some inconvenient things to consider if you are thinking one of the units; you have to walk outside to use bathroom & shower (which is a basic camping style one), no mirror in the units either, parking is tricky you have to park outside on the roadside by the lake, so anticipate carrying your luggage a significant distance. Living room was very spacious, cozy, fire on, games, tea and coffee included too. Overall a pleasent stay just a few annoying things.

We have been having our annual 5 day ski trip at this lodge for 10 years and we love it! It has everything we need for our stay, comfy beds with heaters in our rooms, couches, log fire and a big kitchen! So many happy memories over the years, it is the perfect spot. For many years we had Yoshi looking after us, cleaning rooms and stocking bedrooms, this year the new guy is Henry and he is doing a fab job, he took sick good care of the lodge, what a superstar addition to the Lakes Edge team 🙌
