As someone who doesn’t know much about dams or engineering, this experience was amazing, not a boring moment! Well organised by Kim, who welcomed and briefed us so kindly. Our guide, Neil was easy to talk to and was full of information. The guys in the control room were more than happy to take us through the (complex) process of how water from the lake allows us to turn our lights on. So interesting! Being inside the wall and seeing the slip joint and turbines were amazing, you get so up close! Explanations along the way made it all make sense (at my very basic level!) loved knowing the ‘why’ and ‘how’ behind the ‘what‘.
This experience is seriously eye opening and mind blowing. A small glimpse at the enormous complexity behind power generation, I do not take my hot cups of tea for granted! What an asset to the the community of Clyde and NZ as a whole. Will definitely be recommending this to friends and fam. Thank you...
Read moreWe had the pleasure of taking a tour of the Clyde Dam, and it was an unforgettable experience! Our guide Neil, was incredibly knowledgeable, offering fascinating insights into the dam's history, construction, and its vital role in providing renewable energy. The tour was well-organized, informative, and engaging from start to finish.
The views from the dam are awesome, providing a unique perspective on the engineering marvel and the stunning Central Otago landscape that surrounds it.

Read moreI did this tour with my reluctant wife. Well she loved it. Russell was full of the history of the Clutha gorge back 800 years to present . The control room wash a real highlight and Ash did a great job covering all the complexities of keeping the lights on and meeting the spikes in demand . Then we went into the dam and saw the slip joint that will keep the dam intact in a major alpine fault earthquake. Finally we stood on a turbine and fell the full force of the Clutha through our feet . A really great 2.5 hours . Thanks guys . Tour had four of us, so lots of questions , great if...
