We arrived at 7:30 pm, well before the 10:00 pm closing time, and noticed that about a third of the tables were empty. However, we were informed that the kitchen was too busy to take our order, despite two cooks working hard. We mentioned that we had traveled from Auckland and had been looking forward to their desserts since leaving Dunedin, but unfortunately, this did not change the situation.

Understandably disappointed, my family initially did not want to stay. In the end, we opted for cabinet desserts, which were fairly standard and quite sweet. The experience felt like a stark contrast to the beauty of the surroundings.

For future visitors, it may be worth checking ahead about kitchen availability. However, this could be challenging, as our phone call before arrival...

Dissapointing service, My partner and I visited the restaurant and made us feel like they are doing us a favours serving us as paying customers. We understand that restaurants do get busy and are under pressure but upkeep character and friendly ess, don't be in the hospitality industry if you can't handle it. We were not aware we had to make a booking and if asked at door we would've understood and left but the one waiter told us that we managed to sneak in and continued as if we were intruding. When we asked whats the approximate waiting time she said how long is a piece of string with attitude. We didn't feel welcomed and told her we are going go leave and she responded with an UGHHH. We could've wasted their time and just left but felt to let them know as to not be under...

Arrived today around 10:45, we waited awkwardly in the the front area to be seated or acknowledged.. instead we were ignored so we found our own table. My husband took some menus from other tables as we continued to be ignored.. they weren’t even busy. Him taking the menus got their attention and they said the would bring some over to us soon and that it’s table service.. service was slow.. we waited atleast 20 mins for anyone to take a drinks and food order. The girl that took our order should not work in hospitality she is rude and snappy and it was like she was doing us a favour taking our order. The food came out quickly and was okay. Would never return. Had a nice coffee afterwards at three peaks and the service was great, spend your money...

It was abit awkward on arrival not getting acknowledged and being unsure where to find menus or if we sit ourselves. We eventually got acknowledged and drink orders taken, however we had to to carry our two drinks, menus, table number, water bottle and glasses to the table, along with our personal items. When our meals were brought out, the FOH lady said "garlic butter" in a loud abrupt voice, and that was all. When paying we had to wait for quite sometime while drinks were being made, again not being acknowledged. The food was amazing. Steak cooked perfectly medium rare, so would definitely come back for the amazing food. Atmosphere was lovely also. Think staff might need some training with greeting and customer service.

This is a quaint old historical post office building that has been converted to a cafe and bar. Lovely and cosy inside with a fire going. Staff were friendly, but table service was a bit slow to take our orders and bring our food out. I had the keto version of the Postie Breakie, which was lovely and very nicely presented. Coffee was good too. Visited this place again about a year later and ate dinner there. We had the pork ribs and the venison hot pot - both were delicious. They also have a lovely outdoor beer garden area, which is great on a warm sunny day. They appeared to be under-staffed again as we had to prompt them to take our order. Great food though!

Yum! Everything we had here was delicious and flavorful, and they were generous portions too. Such a cute little old historic post office with a fireplace and stone walls. They have more seating in the bright sunlit back room and a grassy outdoor area with tables for when it's warmer weather. We had the hearty seafood chowder (double yum!), the scrumptious crepes, the full Postie breakfast, the eggs benedict with creamy mushrooms, tea, coffee and the iced chocolate which was quite the sweet treat! Staff were friendly and accommodating. We'll definitely be back for more.
