This was truly one of the most impressive art exhibits I have seen in quite some time. Every room revealed something unexpected, vibrant, thought provoking, and beautifully curated. I found myself wishing their gift shop offered more postcards or reproductions of some of the standout pieces to take home and share. Still, we picked up a few locally stamped prints that captured the spirit of the collection, and they were both affordable and authentic. Admission was included with our stay at Hotel Convento, which made the experience even more accessible. The grounds themselves are stunning, with lush courtyards filled with tropical foliage, wandering turtles, and quiet corners that invite you to linger. We ended up spending about an hour and a half taking it all in, and I could have easily stayed longer. It is the kind of place that stays with you.

Nice museum. A lot bigger and fancier than I expected! The staff turns the lights on/off based on which rooms people are in. They have turtles in 2 of the courtyards! Entry was free for Sandino's birthday May 18. I read they have Picasso paintings, but didn't see any. I saw other paintings that gave me similar disgusted reactions as his works normally do (with few exceptions like the stick figures on a street in Barcelona wasn't bad). But when I checked the information for those, they were by Latin American artists. So if there are still Picasso paintings here, they weren't any of the disfigured people (monsters) or other ones that make me nauseous. If they were easier-to-look-at ones, then they didn't grab my attention enough to read the info and find out or take photos.

The art you see there is really something special. The structure and the details were really beautiful. I also liked the house with the different rooms and the staff were all very friendly and helpful so that you could admire each room. Unfortunately, I found it very sad that turtles and fish have to be part of such a beautiful place. They live in a very small "pond" in the middle of the exhibition. If the animals could be released again, or given a larger and cleaner, species-appropriate home, that would definitely be better. Animals do not belong in a museum!

A fabulous art gallery; one of the biggest I have seen in the world. The span of art was incredible; from the 14th century to the current day.

The old hacienda it is set in is remarkably well preserved, with several internal gardens or courtyards.

It is not air-conditioned or atmospherically sealed, so it is open to the weather here that varies from hot 39° days to very damp weather in the rainy season.

I cannot imagine how they hope to protect the valuable artworks, yet they all seem to be in very good condition.

Allow plenty of time if you want to see and read about...
