This was truly one of the most impressive art exhibits I have seen in quite some time. Every room revealed something unexpected, vibrant, thought provoking, and beautifully curated. I found myself wishing their gift shop offered more postcards or reproductions of some of the standout pieces to take home and share. Still, we picked up a few locally stamped prints that captured the spirit of the collection, and they were both affordable and authentic.
Admission was included with our stay at Hotel Convento, which made the experience even more accessible. The old hacienda it is set in is remarkably well preserved, with several internal gardens or courtyards.
It is not air-conditioned or atmospherically sealed, so it is open to the weather here that varies from hot 39° days to very damp weather in the rainy season.
I cannot imagine how they hope to protect the valuable artworks, yet they all seem to be in very good condition.
Allow plenty of time if you want to see and read about...
