Edit: I've adjusted my rating slightly after taking into account the restaurant's apparent inability to take constructive feedback, as indicated by their response to my post. I may write long reviews (because it is something I enjoy), but my friends and I were certainly not "emotional" or uncomfortable from the beginning during the night at all, nor am I now as I write this.
I am glad Tacubaya is always looking to improve and rather than suggesting that your customers are the problem and encouraging them to go elsewhere, I hope your staff look to address the issues I raised instead. They are fairly simple issues to resolve.
Original: To be totally honest, it was quite a disappointing experience. I don't really understand why - this is the first time I've ever been to a place that is both so well regarded and delivered such a sub par experience across the board.
I asked the mesero which dish was best and which was biggest, and he assured me it was the pork - but the pork was quite dry and flavourless, and was the smallest of all the meals that came out. The portion sizing was inconsistent too - my friend had significantly more than I did, and I was left hungry enough to finish the food on everyone else's plates, discovering that at least theirs had tasted better.
Then, from a service perspective, they are are clearly understaffed - I told the waiter we were ready to order, but he went around doing other things and had to be signalled over again. The food then took a while to come and came out inconsistently - I was finished by the time my friend got their food.
And then on top of that, the prices, while nothing massive, are also not small by Nicaraguan standards. You can get much, much better for less.
All in all, I wanted to say it was an okay experience, but honestly it was disappointing on enough levels that a high 2 stars is appropriate. Another person I talked to said they had been before and it was much better. Maybe there was a different person in the kitchen,...
Read moreThe ambiance of this place is absolutely charming. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and relaxed. The staff were incredibly warm and cheerful, always greeting us with genuine smiles that made the experience feel personal and inviting.
The food was a delightful surprise, generously portioned and very reasonably priced. Every dish we tried was flavorful and satisfying, and although they were out of a few menu items, everything we ordered hit the spot. We especially enjoyed the drinks, which were refreshing and well made.
Even with a few missing items, the overall experience was wonderful. It felt like a place where people truly care about what they serve and how they treat their guests. We left full, happy, and already thinking about...
Read moreThe Pina Colada I had here was beyond exceptional. As I was drinking it, I became truly sad as it diminished - I could not believe what I was drinking.
I would not be surprised if they spent hours each day picking the freshest pineapple in all of Nicaragua. It was blended to perfection, served in a gorgeous jar.
However, the true magic of this delicious cocktail came from the welcome addition of an equally fresh banana. Such an incredible surprise flavour that now feels as though should be a staple in all Pina Coladas.
The combination of flavours in this drink was truly special. I will be searching for a Pina Colada of this quality for a very long time. I doubt I will ever find one as good. Thank...
