Snaking over Lagos lagoon, the Ikoyi-Lekki Bridge is primarily meant for easing perennial traffic jam on the islands of Lagos, Nigeria. As the popular Ozumba Mbadiwe Road that links Victoria Island to Lekki and beyond is often clogged with traffic jams that make many Lagosians waste manhours on the road, the Ikoyi-Lekki Bridge was built by the Lagos State Government as a faster alternative way to link Lekki from Ikoyi and vice versa. The bridge is indeed modern, gives a scenic view of the lagoon waters on both sides, and is attractively accentuated with a sky-high arcade that can be seen from a distance away. In off-peak hours, the bridge can be covered by a motorist under 5 minutes. But there can heavy traffic buildup on the bridge when every is rushing home at office closing hour. Over all, the Ikoyi-Lekki Bridge also makes for easy jogging exercises on the wide kerbs, with cool breeze soothing the body...

At times this bridge could be a life saver. At peak periods it could be horrendous. Please be aware, u need cash to pay for the toll through the bridge. Debit and credit cards are not accepted. For a normal saloon car, the toll is N300 each way. This fee is N100 more than the toll fee through the regular Lekki-vi toll plaza. The bridge has some nice scenic views. Toll booth staff are not exactly chatty but do attend to each vehicle in a timely fashion. Please be sure to collect your toll receipt as proof of purchase. All in all, it's usually worth the extra quid as you get to bypass loads of traffic encountered through the regular route.

If we are talking about bridges, this is one of the best in Nigeria. Beautiful minimalistic design, well maintained, neat, colorful at night. As for the traffic, I wouldn't give a lower rating. Yes there is always traffic, but this is Lagos, there is traffic everywhere. Even if there was no toll gate, there would still be traffic, ask 3rd mainland! Good for jogging too, all day you can see people jogging. E-tags work well. NB this is my first and only 5 star review, ever! That should say just how much of a beauty this bridge is.
