The Garden, Ikoyi is a nature-themed outdoor/ indoor space that immediately welcomes nature lovers to a feeling of warmth and fussiness. It's like wearing very comfy pajamas and sitting in a room with warm white lights, staring at a beautiful piece of art, with your legs planted in a soft warm rug, in a cooled atmosphere.
The place is packed with different activities that won't leave you bored. From Afrobeats nights and live bands weekly, to the brilliant "movie under the stars" that shows something for movie lovers, it doesn't appear that they run out of ideas to make their space come alive.
Here are my critical reviews of my second experience.
Experience I went to watch a movie "under the stars" with a couple of friends and it was generally a great experience. Sound was decent, though not, the best, but given the circumstances, above average. The projector did a good job and the ambient was just as expected for the setting; dim and clear. One drawback would be the fact that the screen wasn't elevated, so people at the back had their views a little obstructed by those in front. The movies source appeared to have some issue as it kept stopping during the show. It was usually quickly resolved, however. Would be nice to improve on that.
Food & Cost. We ordered a platter worth ₦200,000 to feed 10 people and each had a glass of cocktail accompany the platter as well as complimentary popcorn that was served towards the end of the movie. The Barbeque chicken was great, 8/10, the fish was terrible 3/10, the Jollof rice side was great, the Suya, shito and Pork were all super great. I'd collectively rate those 8/10.
Customer Service Possibly the best part of the experience and what sealed. All staff were super nice, attentive, friendly and very professional. I'd rate the service we got as a 10/10.
Location Was easy to access, but scary being by the side of the road. Accidents can happen and I hope for all our sakes that they...
Read moreI personally believe that this is a very healthy and peaceful place to be. I think people who have Covid19 could just go there to breathe fresh unadulterated oxygen. You're surrounded by so much plants giving you excess oxygen and it is just so pure. It is even more beautiful at night when the lights come on, this is a great space for people who want intimate evening events for their weddings, birthdays etc. Now the food; The platters were taking a while and I was hungry so I ordered for chicken pie as they said they had pastries. Lmao, that was the smallest pie I had ever seen, I thought it was a dumpling. It tasted better than it looked though, it came hot and nice. We ordered a second one that came in cold and was not nice at all. The mixed platter was really nice. We particularly enjoyed the ram suya, it was the right texture, seasoning etc. The chicken wings too just really moist and savoury, the turkey wasn't bad too but the wings beat it for me. The seafood platter wasn't all that. The Barracuda fish wasn't well seasoned or rather the seasoning was only on the outside, the inside was bland. The giant prawns tasked a lot better. You only get 2 prawns and 2 Barracuda on your plate as the seafood platter for N12,500. The mixed platter goes for N10,500. I enjoyed the Pina colada, it was just right, the strawberry daquiri on the other hand had too much rum which over powered all the other ingredients. They cost N4,000 each. Overall, I will like to visit again. This is a place I would like to sit at just to breathe and...
Read moreFirst it looked smaller than I expected, but quite beautiful. I absolutely loved the aesthetic. They have a paid parking space, can’t remember the exact amount, but should be between N200-N500 per hour. Their staff were quite courteous and friendly, at least the one who attended to me. Food was just basic nothing extraordinary. I had a plate of pasta which was about 6k. The menu was very limited on the day I visited. Aside from being a restaurant, they have a bar, café and flower shop were they sell basically everything to tend to your gardening needs. Oh, mind the way you dress, because there’s a NO INDECENT OUTFIT sign at the entrance. Another advice avoid visiting during the rainy season or just sit indoors because we were literally chased by the rain. We all took to our heels food in hand when it started raining because the outer part had no covering whatsoever. Overall: I had a good time nothing out of this world. Would I be visiting again?...
