The Polar Exploration Museum, also known as the Fram Museum, is located in Oslo, Norway. Included in the Oslo pass. Handicap accessible with an elevator and ramps, but, might be challenging to navigate certain areas of the display such as the inside of the ship replica. Displays in several languages. It is dedicated to the history of polar exploration and features the polar ship Fram, which was used in notable Arctic and Antarctic expeditions by explorers like Fridtjof Nansen, Otto Sverdrup, and Roald Amundsen. The museum provides detailed exhibits on these expeditions, the explorers, and the extreme conditions they faced. Visitors can also explore the interior of the Fram ship, which has been preserved in its original state. The museum aims to educate the public about the challenges and achievements of polar exploration.

Heading out on a boat to the island to the Polar ship museum. Two complete ships housed in two buildings joined by a tunnel. It shows the story of the polar exploration done by Norway and I learned a lot from the displays (Norwegian and English descriptions). Also you can walk onto the larger of the two ships and they project images around the walls to give a very cool effect of being on the ship in the sea and on the ice. We used the Oslo pass which was good value, provided you hit up the museums in quick succession. There were three museums beside each other on the island and two where the boat left and returned to, it was easy to do five in one day.

This is known as the Fram Museum and contains the explorer ship Fram. The museum is easily accessed from the city centre but ferry or bus 30 which end up at the museum before returning into the centre of Oslo. The museum has excellent displays and some interreactive exhibits as well as cine displays. The boat can be entered and you can exore it on the 3 main levels. The way this is done is excellent and it gives a good feel for what it was like. The cafe has individual seating cabins with 'windows' with cine clips of the Arctic/ Antarctic. I really excellent museum. Allow at least 2-3 hours to get the best from it.
