It is a beautiful park about an hour's walk from the city. If you visit, you can sometimes smell the terrible stench of cannabis. Cannabis is illegal in Norway. I was horrified when someone told me about the worrying dealings in Class A drugs in the area. It is an area with expensive housing and I can only assume that it is the drug use among the upper middle class that is out of control. Now, obviously the police are aware of the problems in this area as they have a high police presence. The other not so nice thing about the park is the dog problem. There are A LOT of dogs in the park and they bark a lot. Many aggressive dogs are out walkng their weak owners. It is also common for dog owners to let their dogs run free. Now this is kind of allowed according to the regulations of the Oslo City Council, but then at the same time it is kind of not. The regulations say that the dog owner must have total control of the beast and they clearly do not. On days with good weather there is motorized gardening for several hours during the day. It is very noisy. Because of the noise and the fast driving, you can't be in the park when they mow the lawn, which they do every other day. The gasoline driven leaf blowers (1-3 of them) blow at full power for about 2 hours every day and about once or twice a week the mini street sweeper drives around for an hour. The area is really well maintained by terribly noisy and long-lasting gardening. I feel sorry for those who have bought an expensive apartment in the area. If the real estate market in Norway takes a hit like in 2008, I assume the prices in this area will bomb first. There is a kindergarten facing the park. This also contributes to the noise problem. Strange that they don't move the playground to the other side of the building, as it would then be facing nothing in particular. Again, I would hesitate to buy an apartment in that area because of the noise from a hundred screaming children. It's sad that such a nice park is being ruined by selfish people like dog owners and cannabis smokers. It's also sad that there are no regulations for motorized gardening in residential areas. Noise pollution can cause serious health problems. With a little common sense, these problems would be solved, but no. Buy an apartment or visit at...
