SUGAR & SPICE — Restaurant in Oslo

We had such a heartwarming experience today at this restaurant. Chef is so talented and hardworking. Staff lady is polite and courteous. My son has food allergies so finding safe food for him on holidays are big struggle. While we looking around for some halal restaurant someone suggested Sugar & Spice as they do halal chicken dishes . Menu is wholesome perfectly mentioned all allergens. Due to severity and complex dietary needs of my son chef has offered to make something . Before us there was a large group of customers already placed food order so we waited a bit long then usual. Restaurant has offered the food complimentary for us without payment. We were so touched with the high level of customer service and their humble approach. I must say you both are a star. Even though the restaurant was so busy and my son foods needs extra vigilance . Chef took the challenge and aced it. I tried to pay because pad Thai and stir fried noodles were awesomely delicious but they humbly declined. I would highly recommend this place who ever comes to visit Oslo. I loved the atmosphere, it’s small and intimate which was a great start. Staff welcomed me at the door, allowed me to choose my seat and promptly took my order.

I ordered a cocktail that was extremely sweet but I didn’t complain because I was looking forward to the food anyway.

Once the food arrived the presentation of the surf’n’turf was appetising. However I was highly disappointed when I tasted it. It was extremely salty, the salt overpowered the flavours. The wings were horrible, just drenched in soy sauce and hoisin sauce. The wings were salty too. I was not given water so I had nothing to wash it down with. I was not checked on at all. The server was too busy chatting away to her colleague in the kitchen, with no view of what was happening in the restaurant. After waiting 30 minutes, I eventually just got up to pay… I did not have the energy to complain. Incredible Experience at SUGAR & SPICE

This was hands down the best Asian food I’ve had in Oslo! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the attention to detail in the decor truly set the tone for an amazing meal.

The owners, Mitch and Kim, were so kind and pleasant, making us feel like honored guests. My waitress, Anne, was exceptional—attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu.

Everything on the menu is spectacular, but the absolute standout for me was the Asian-style Birria Taco—an explosion of flavor that I can’t stop thinking about! 🤤😍
