We have often spoken about visiting Machu Picchu, but we were not looking forward to making the travel intricate arrangements which are needed to get there from South Africa. We searched for a travel company to assist us and found Machu Travel Peru on TripAdvisor. We approached them to create an itinerary for us to see a bit of Lima, a bit of The Sacred Valley, some of Cusco, and of course Machu Picchu itself. They did an excellent job. After sending us a draft itinerary, they were very accommodating and made multiple changes and iterations to the itinerary to meet our needs. Since we were flying in from different locations , we booked our own flights to Lima and between Lima and Cusco, but they arranged EVERYTHING else, including the tours and tickets, hotels, lunches and the train tickets to and from Aguas Calientes.
They had drivers and guides to collect us from the airport and take us on the tours which they had planned for each day. This ground transport was in modern , clean safe vehicles with excellent drivers. The tour guides were knowledgeable professional local tour guides who gave us some fascinating insights into the local area and culture.
Machu Travel also booked and paid for all of our hotels in advance, which made checking in and out super simple. They chose really stunning hotels for us in Lima, Sacred Valley, Aguas Calientes and Cusco.
Because we made a relatively late decision to travel to Peru, we were not able to book Machu Picchu entrance tickets online, as the tickets for our travel dates were all sold out. Machu Travel Peru organised one of their staff in Aguas Calientes to assist us with buying entrance tickets for the following day. Rosa Maria was amazing , and without her help, it would have been much more difficult to navigate the vague process of buying last minute entrance tickets in Aguas Calientes.
Sergio was our Machu Picchu guide arranged by Machu Travel. Sergio has done over 3000 trips to Machu Picchu. He was amazing and took really good care of us all the way (including tips on which side of the bus to sit on to get the best experience on the way to the top!)
The Cusco day trip was another highlight, and once again our guide, Cris, was really, really great.
On two occasions, people in our party accidently left belongings behind after checking out the hotels. We reported these to Sol at Machu Travel and she made arrangements to get these back to us in really short time frames.
Thank you Sol and Maribel and all of the other behind the scenes staff for making our trip such a memorable one. You have done an amazing job, and I can very easily highly recommend your services to potential...

This was my family's first trip to Peru, and we initially planned to travel independently with a detailed itinerary, but the pandemic changed everything. Since we were traveling with our 15-year-old daughter, safety became our top priority. Plus, we don’t speak Spanish, so we opted for an all-inclusive English service with a professional guide and driver, which saved us from the hassle of tickets, long lines, and route planning.
After our 10-day trip, we were really glad we chose this travel agency. The itinerary before departure was very professional, allowing us to complete a 14-day trip in just 10 days with less fatigue. The guide was professional, spoke fluent English, and was very knowledgeable; by the end of our trip, we felt like we had become historians of Peru. The daily transportation was clean, and even though the driver’s English wasn’t great, he did his best to help with luggage, provided bottled water, and was always on time—very dedicated.
There are many online travel agencies, but each has different itineraries, especially when it comes to attention to detail. For example, everyone wants to visit Machu Picchu in the morning, but they scheduled our visit for the afternoon. I was initially confused, but later realized this helped us avoid the morning crowds, and mornings are often cloudy, which isn’t great for photos. Plus we saved one night hotel cost and we used the hotel savings to take the Hiram Bingham train, which gave us an unforgettable luxury experience! thank you again Machu Travel Peru!
This travel agency stands out for its personalized itinerary design and a 24-hour team that swiftly addresses unexpected situations. Having worked in the travel industry for over 10 years, I can attest to their passion and high level of customer service. If you want a regret-free trip to Peru, I highly recommend this agency.

Read moreMachu Travel Peru organized an amazing trip to Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley for me and my 21 year old son. They were able to accommodate all of our requests during the planning process, and were extremely responsive to questions. They have options to meet a variety of budgets and interests. For example, I wanted 4 or 5 star hotels, to hike the short Inca trail into Machu Picchu and to take the Hiram Bingham train one way out of Machu Picchu.
Shortly before we arrived, we had a WhatsApp group with an operations team for any questions that arose. The logistics were extremely well organized, including that we only took a small bag to Machu Picchu (which was taken from the train to our hotel in Agua calientes while we hiked) and our larger suitcase was transported from Ollataytambo to our hotel in Cuzco. It was all seamless and effortless for us.
We had the same driver (Wilfredo) and guide (Adolfo) for our whole time there. Both were anazing and focused on ensuring we enjoyed our trip. Adolfo was incredibly knowledgeable and personable, and we learned a lot without it seeming like a canned speech. He also accommodated that I needed a little extra time on some of the stairs/ascents on the hike and in the ruins. 😊
I was a bit nervous about using a company that I found online, but the positive reviews convinced me to take a chance. It was an amazing experience from start to finish. I recommend Machu Travel Peru without reservation for a truly...
