Bohol Bee Farm (original location) - my yikes review :(

All the food I’ve had to this point has been honestly incredible. The service and flavors I’ve had in the Philippines has been nothing short of breathtaking. But this.. disappointing to say the least. I know this page is full of great reviews so I don’t know if we just got the short end of the stick or what but be very wary of coming. Not a fan.

Food: While the food in these photos looks great, I didn’t snap a picture of the Sisig (edit: my friend did!) which they absolutely burnt to a crisp. It was basically inedible— we scraped around it but a good chunk of it got left on plates and a third of it in the pan— and we heard similar complaints from others about that same dish when we stopped by Chillax after for a drink. I also didn’t include the appetizer we ordered, flatbread with tomato salsa, because after 45 minutes of waiting for it (we were originally told 20 which is a long wait for an appetizer but we wanted to try it?) we still had not received it even with asking after it multiple times and had finished our meal / asked for our check. The pizza, which I was excited because it was advertised as brick oven, was not crispy at all and I told Connor it tasted just like the frozen ones you buy in bulk at Costco. Not much flavor and just plain (even for cheese pizza). Credit to the salads, the fruits & nuts were fresh & flavorful. Seafood was cold and nothing remarkable, and the pasta was decent but basic, but it wasn’t what we expected from the place. They also used a lot of rind in their food, which for a tourist attraction is unfortunately stomach issues waiting to happen as the bacteria in most of their produce we are not used to. Most places remove it and wash thoroughly, which helps to prevent most of those issues ahead of time.

Service: The service was probably the most atrocious I’ve had here. The wait staff paid very little attention to us, and they would never approach without us having to flag them down. There were no checkins or anything, and our waiter for a long time just stared at us from across the restaurant where I could clearly view him. When we had to call another waitress over to handle the issues with the food above, he hid away after having stood there for 20 minutes, and we didn’t see him until later when we were having to speak to the supervisor (which was ALSO an ordeal as she never spoke to us until they tried to only void the appetizer we never got and not the very burnt Sisig). He told us we should have complained earlier about the food when we finally saw him at the very end (when he finally brought the appetizer after we had already had it voided and paid), which we TRIED to do but could never get the attention of anyone because he was never in sight and the others were rarely nearby.

Environment:

This place, while pretty in theory, was chock full of bugs that spend the whole time flying to your food and biting any skin you’ve got free. The lights and being next to the water draw them in. We also couldn’t see well, as we came at night, and the long path down to the restaurant was not well-lit in many parts. That said, what we could see looked pretty, and in daytime I can see that it would be a great tourist visit site for some pictures. Bee Farm has no bees. Birds, and lots of bugs that bite, yeah. Some cute stray dogs too. But no bees. There was plenty of seating which was good. Maybe four tables had patrons, which almost makes the service element worse. It was humid out, and they had only a couple of fans so air circulation was minimal and it felt fairly uncomfortable for those who are temperature-aware.

Stop at a Bee Farm ice cream stand somewhere else and don’t go out of your way to stop here. It’s good coconut milk ice cream, but the food here was not worth the trek it was chalked up to...

Part of the Panglao tour is the Bohol Beach farm. I was hesitant to check the place at first coz I thought I would just be seeing a small portion of rows of plants in a plastic pot. That's what I saw on our way to the entrance. Thinking that's all there is to it so there'll be no need to go near each plant. Lol. The tryk driver also told me that the place is not as beautiful as before coz the owner renovated the place a bit and added a restaurant in it.

I saw that they are selling something at the entrance so I decided to check it. I bought something for me and my sister and while waitin for my change I tried to go inside...and woah!!! The place is not as bad and as small as I thought! The place is actually big, colorful, festive and for some parts instagram worthy. There's even a cafe near the entrance and the famous buzz shop! The sign that read "Dive shop" caught my attention so the curious side of me went further and got interested. As I try to look for the shop, I was able to explore the entire farm. I didn't know that the place is that big! I have to walk farther and even went down a slope just to reach the dive shop. I also passed thru a restaurant and an empty space where there are tables and chairs. There are hammocks too at some of the trees and cabanas where you can just sit and relax.

When I reached the dive shop the view is mesmerizing!! It's located at the downhill part of the farm overlooking the ocean. There are beach chairs and bean bags where you can just relax and enjoy the view. There is also a mini bar located at the side and ofcourse the dive shop where you can buy or rent stuff for diving, paddle boards and kayaking.

Going back to the main entrance is a little tiring coz I have to climb my way up. I also got lost on my way back but it's ok coz it was worth it.

The place is actually nice. Don't let the outer appearance or comments from other...

Looks suspended on top of the mangrove trees in the heart of Bohol lushes trees and break water, the Bohol Fam Restaurant beckons food enthusiasts with its commitment to wholesome, healthy cuisine. From vibrant salads to indulgent pizzas, this culinary haven celebrates the marriage of taste and nutrition. 🍝 Seafood Pasta Delight: The seafood pasta at Bohol Fam is a symphony of flavors. Al dente linguine dances with plump shrimp, tender calamari, and juicy mussels. The tomato-based sauce sings of sun-ripened tomatoes and fragrant basil. A dash of chili adds just the right kick. 🥗 Garden Greens Salad: For those craving freshness, the Garden Greens Salad is a masterpiece. Crisp lettuce, spinach, and arugula form the verdant base. Generous portions of avocado, strawberries, and orange segments burst forth. The crowning glory? A drizzle of zesty lemon vinaigrette. 🍕 All Meat Pizza Perfection: Bohol Fam’s all meat pizza is a carnivore’s dream. The crust strikes the perfect balance – not too tough, not too soft. A symphony of ham harmonizes with gooey selection of cheese ,Each bite is a celebration of indulgence. 🍦 Homemade Ice Cream Extravaganza: Save room for dessert! The homemade ice cream steals the show. Picture this: a cassava cone cradling scoops of exotic flavors. Durian, with its creamy pungency; dragon fruit, a burst of magenta sweetness; and peanut kisses, a nostalgic embrace. It’s a delightful finale. Bohol Fam Restaurant invites you to savor health without compromise. Come hungry,...
