I have been posting some angry emojis on the Jush Glamping Facebook site, so thought I had better explain. If you are going to read through this it is a bit of a story, from which none of the main characters come out looking good. On Thanksgiving Day (23rd November 2023) Jush fed me and my guest horrible tasting turkey. We were on a group table. My fellow diners all remarked on how awful my turkey looked. At first I didn't know what the problem was - it was actually a late arrival who told me that it was under cooked. I didn't complain at the time. On that, ChatGPT remarked "It's understandable that you didn't immediately complain on the day, as sometimes situations like these can catch us off guard". No human has taken that view. Haha. Let's move on... I visited Jush on 7th December 2023 to try to get a practical apology by way of some money back. It was frustrating. In the end I had to ask: "Do you even believe me that the turkey was under cooked?" I was told no - I didn't have photographs or witnesses with me so nothing I said could be believed. And I was complaining in person too late etc. So what's the real reason I care about this? Well it was either incompetence or malice. With incompetence you might expect to find out some of the details - the owner will tell you about the inexperienced staff member, the process that wasn't adhered to, the thermometer that was misreading, some details. And you get an apology from the person in charge. In this case the owner was too busy to talk to me, preferring to leave me to his staff. On Wednesday 20th December I ran into Jorg (the owner) outside Max Cow. Until this point we had never met so I introduced myself and tried to fist pump, but instead Jorg gave me a pretty nice gentleman's handshake. So a good start. Then I asked him what happened with the turkey on Thanksgiving. I found his response so amazing I could only walk off. Jorg said "If your date didn't work out don't blame us". As promised no heroes in this story. As long as the activist owner doesn't take a special interest in your situation then you'll likely have a good experience at Jush. I didn't. If nothing else then at least I've documented here a story that is stranger than fiction.
UPDATE: On Thanksgiving just gone (Thursday November 28th 2024) my wife and I were were invited to share a meal with some friends. We turned up at JUSH Glamping and took our places at their table. Everyone else had just been served their food and there were two empty spots for us. We were informed by a staff member that there was no turkey left! It was admitted later that this was in fact not true, but 'code' for us not being welcome. I knew this at the...
Read moreBefore when Steffi was managing it, the place used to be nice and the service was smooth, I won’t lie the rooms are better standard but it’s all down to the service, Firstly I like to say thanks to the girl behind the bar who had always been friendly and allocating. I spent around 4 days there and everyday is worse than the previous just because I have had a little complaint as a costumer in which we are all entitled to receive a good or at least descent service, the place is very far from everything, but if you need peaceful stay do not hesitate to try somewhere else because there are a lot of noisy wotks and constructions outside your bedroom, The boss(Jush) moved my motorbike that was locked even I was there he could have just asked me I would be happy to do so, but because he likes to take matters with his hands he didn’t bother, I did not like it but I thought it was fine as I was on vaccation, let’s keep it cool, the next day someone walked into my room without telling me, when I asked the staff members Jush was there listening so he said it was him as he was checking the generators which I didn’t understand then I asked if it was him who had moved my bike he said yes because he needs to park his car there even there was plenty spaces for his car, he made me feel like I was not welcomed at all even I was paying a bit more than they have advertised it, but it didn’t come to that, he was rude and full of himself, after he knew I made a complaint to his wife and the staff members, I never thought he would not like guests to comment on him, I wasn’t happy there at all so I had to leave because the place is never going to be the same as it was when Steffi was there. Overall the place looks nicer than you would experience inside it. Constructions, food isn’t the best , I asked for my room to be fixed no one has even bother move my bins, when I asked why they didn’t do my room they said sorry we forgot!! full of Miskitos, the staff and the bosses are inexperienced, I hope you could take this criticism into consideration and stop arguing to your unhappy costumers in comments. I’d rather fix my problems because this comments for the travellers to know so at least they have some heads up about what is waiting for them. One more thing it’s better to make sure your place worth the money we pay and make some effort as I am sure you could make this place revive again or even better than it used to be...
Read moreWe found this place by accident and have enjoyed it thoroughly. It’s at the end of a road right on the ocean. The huts and tents are very quaint and comfortable and the service unbeatable. Hospitable and friendly staff who will bend over backwards to make your stay wonderful. They help arrange for scooters, rides or anything else you need. Prices are reasonable here as well. The restaurant is great and has a varied menu. Also the bar is fully stocked with whatever you desire. Relax by the campfire with your favorite cocktail while listening...
