Visited South Farm on a saturday afternoon and it was lovely!
✅ Sustainability One of the best things I like - this is a thriving farm, they take proper care of the animals and they're not just after your money. Most of the activities here does not require you any additional fees (animal feeding - they give you the animal's food for free, you can experience the horseback riding for free, and all the other amenities are included in the entrance fee). The animals don't look stressed out (shows a clear sign that they're well taken care of). The plants also look healthy and managed.
✅ Visitor's convenience Transportation and entrance fees are free when you're booked at Oceanica Panglao. Went on a weekend afternoon but the entry was fast You can leave your bags at the concierge (just make sure to bring your important belongings with you!) Souvenirs are also available in the entrance incase you wanted to buy right away There's a restaurant inside the farm incase you get hungry (haven't tried this so I couldn't say much) the staff are approachable and friendly! there are chairs available especially near the fishing pond incase you get tired of walking sinks and soap are available in multiple locations across the farm incase you need to wash your hands after doing some activity
✅ Value for money The entrance is free when you're booked at Oceanica. If not, the price is still cheap for only ₱200 or below ($4 USD).
They also offer activities for a cheap price (didn't get to try this so I can't say much)
✅ Accessibility Wheelchair accessible in some areas, but since this is a farm - the pathways can be rocky and muddy. Not steep though so if someone in a wheelchair would like to check the area they can do so but with some bumps along the way.
👀 things to watch our for Insect bites - I recommend wearing an insect repellant before going in and doing...
Read moreI enjoyed my visit to South Farm Panglao, Bohol. This is because I was given an opportunity to see various animals, plus I was given a chance to feed them. I saw guinea pigs, a pig, chickens, peacocks, rabbits, goats, sheep, birds, turtles, and many more! Their food is available. You just have to grab it and feed the animals.
I just feel sad that some of those animals seem dehydrated, and there was a goat that was able to escape from its shelter. I felt scared when it went because I thought it might chase us. 😂
The South Farm is huge, so always look at your map to ensure that you'll be able to visit around its place. No one will look after you and guide you. After feeding the animals, there are wash areas to wash your hands.
Moreover, I was able to buy coconut vinegar and coconut candies during our tour there. However, we did not eat at the Prawn Farm restaurant because it is too expensive! Fishing is also available where you may fish for freshwater fish (tilapia) and milkfish (bangus) and let the Prawn Farm restaurant cook for those fish, which you may be able to catch, but we didn't try it because fishing and cooking those fish are super duper expesive! There are many fishing sites in the Philippines that cost less than one thousand pesos. It also saddened me when we went there because I wanted to try the pottery making, but according to the staff there, the clay is...
Read moreWe had a birthday celebration here with the family and close relatives. South Farm offers numerous activities, including fishing, feeding various animals, pottery, etc., which can be so fun for people of all ages, but most especially children.
The little ones had a blast. We all enjoyed our time spent at the farm. However, with the area lacking shade, and judging that one would spend a couple hours here, the sweltering heat can be very exhausting.
Bring enough refreshments and snacks because of another drawback to consider — the Prices are really steep. Forget the promo package costing about 200Php each. Just calculate at least 700Php per person for the acitvity and dining experience.
Justifiable? Some of the activities offered can be practiced with other local artisans at a lower price, even feeding or petting farm animals is not uncommon experience in the province. But still a breath of fresh air (can be taken literally) to have the chance to participate in all those activites in one complex, as well as enjoy great food made from high quality ingredients at...
