I am from Cebu Philippines, and i stayed here for two weeks to do the lists of the activities. The Sandy beach is very clean as i witnessed. I swim here everyday, because i am a mermaid swimming coach, freediver, scuba diver and snorkeling coach. Everyday, i come here to practice my swimming. In the morning not so much people, in the lunch time until 4pm lots of people. I noticed Friday, Saturday and Sunday too much people also, but good thing from Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday not to much people. If Friday from the morning until 4pm too much people but after that time i am alone at the beach. This beach it is very clean because every week they have a clean machine to clean the sand. The water temperature if its raining it is 25 according to my dive watch and sometimes i am alone in the beach if its raining... The depths is 5 meters in the middle, visibility is good up to 3 meters if the sun is out. I did snorkeling here always, i see school of baby milk fish, i see baracuda fish sometimes in the middle, in the deepest area. But in the shallow area i see school of small fish which is really good for 4 years old and above to do and learn snorkeling here. Water temperature sometimes 18,20,21 degrees. I love it here because restaurants are 400 meters away and 100 meters away you see the snack bar. Waitress and wait they speak english well. I encounter two problems, they do not accept us dollars, so better bring Euros. There is NO exchange currency in this town only in the airport and La Vie shopping mall in Funchal. But they accepted credit cards, but if you are from Philippines, make it sure, that you informed your bank that you are going to Portugal or else, when you use your credit card on their terminal they will block it. I love the ocean i protect them. I suggest do not use sunblock it will kill the sea creatures and their food, better to use coconut oi or virgin coconut oil refrigerate it first before using them or olive oil, if you want to get tan immediately use them very effective and non hazardous to the sea creatures. Groceries are close by, for budget grocery i suggest Continente, huge place and behind that it is already a Bus station 113 bus number Via Airport and going to Funchal. I love it here very much and people also are friendly, it seems i found my culture here.. Congratulations to the local government. June 16, 2021 they place life guards there with complete equipment, kudos to the...
Read moreProbably the most accessible golden sands beach in Madeira. Well located, easily accessible, parking near by and baby-friendly. It also offers facilities for disabled people to enjoy a bath in the sea. You can spend there the whole day, bathing in the water, watching the planes land and take off, boats coming and going, and basically just chilling with your family. There’s a couple of restaurants near by for lunch and snacks. Toilets are available and free too. It can get crowded during the summer season and the parking can be a nightmare but other than that it’s a great spot for a day on a beach if you have kids. There’s a pebble beach near by that can be better for you if you want more privacy and...
Read moreIt is one of my favorite madeirian beaches and probably the best one for Children due to deeply yellow nice sand everywhere around it. I was told it was specially brought from some tropical Island to Madeira. This is the only one such Beach in Madeira, others ale more "wild" and in most of them are not sandy, none has such sand. There are few disadvantages though - lots of tourist with lots of Children, swimming area is limited (as it is everywhere) but rather small, compared to other locations and harbor is naerby, therefore water seems dirtier than in other locations and swimming area is rather boring. But sand area is best in Madeira - if U want lazy beach day - Machico is...
