Baía Beach Club — Restaurant in Machico

Racist! When we walked to Baia Beach Club no-one acknowledged us, we had to make an assumption that you just sat down. After five minutes of being completely ignored, I turned around to try and get the waitresses attention, she acknowledged that she had seen me but it took at least another 10 minutes before she came to our table. She took our order and then we sat there for at least 30 minutes without receiving anything we ordered (including drinks) even though they were not busy. They seemed incredibly reluctant to engage with us. We saw other tables served and receive food before us. They only provided one food mat, to the white person sat on our table and only spoke to the white person on our table, all other eye contact and interaction was ignored. Beautiful views, great service, and memorable food. I ordered the espatada regional. The meat had a delicious flavor, but a good amount of it was very tough and inedible due to tendons. The salad was fresh. The star of my meal was the cubed potatoes which appeared to have been mashed, then fried. My sisters ordered the calamari risotto and calamari platter. The calamari risotto was a little too salty. The calamari platter was not quite what was expected. The calamari was steamed, served in a gravy topped with lots of french fries. Service was okay and on time but food is overpriced for quality of it. Nice view over marina but food was not good. Pizza we ordered was kinda burnt, steak was over cooked (and they didn’t ask how I want it), very medium risotto and weirdly tasting shrimps. The worst was fries of both my fish and my friends burger - they were still raw, just fried from outside a little bit. Maybe other dishes are better, but if you want their carbonara (what I wanted to order first), take in consideration it’s with mushrooms and cream, so really not Italian carbonara… the only good thing is location, good fried corn and...
