Myself and my family were not acknowledged, no welcome, and no 'I will get to you soon'. The place was not busy, and we were not singled out. A French couple left, tired of waiting to have their order taken, and another couple were constantly asking, too. The waiter showed no interest in serving them, or us. We waited for 20 minutes. When his friends arrived, they were served instantly, with coffees and drinks, and menus were produced. This was very disappointing because of the excellent reviews this place has. I asked why he would not serve us, and there was a sudden language barrier (yet, he was speaking English earlier). I asked to speak to the manager, and he directed me to his colleague who was attending the bar (and not busy), and he was tongue-tied, too. He seemed to lack any interest. Directed to talk to the Chef (for some reason), he looked very busy, and was apologetic. The organisation looked chaotic, so we left, the Chef looked overworked whilst the waiter and I assume, the barman, were not doing their jobs properly. There are many good places to eat close by, I would recommend O Gala, and Restaurante Mercado, and have excellent service,...

Boring and plain. Unfortunately very bland for my taste. This might be cultural preference to have no condiments, but I won't return. The tuna steak was a large potion, but not even a lemon. No sauce. It's close to the ocean and across from the historic fort on a paved road. Nice views. Lots of shade trees.
Sadly, their QR code for the menu connects to Facebook. I'm don't participate in Facebook, so this place is not for me. They need their menu on an inclusive website where...
Read moreBeen here twice after surfing and both my friends and I have been bitterly disappointed. The waiter ignored us repeatedly and when we finally got his attention he said that there was no bread left - bear in mind most of the menu was sandwiches and this was 10am on a Friday and Saturday. He was pretty rude to us and made us feel unwelcome. I would suggest instead taking a very quick walk down the street to O Gala Cafe which had some of the best food and service we’ve experienced in Madeira (we’ve been...
