Such places are definitely interesting for those who academically studied the history of this peninsula, development of these two neighbours through times and their fortification systems. But even simple hunters for insta-images will be satisfied visiting it since views from here are so fantastic and inspiring that staying there you think where my wings are today. From the point of view of aesthetic feelings and emotions this castle is far more attractive than neighbouring constructions in Castelo de Vide or the Cathedral in Portalegre (if you have some doubts where to go - simply take this route and you will not regret about your decision). Roads to the castle are very serpentine; and when you follow them, especially in the fog, you feel that some fairy-tales by Andersen could be real :). Better to explore such places by your own transport to be independent from any time restrictions and to have better control over roads. We visited the castle at some 10 a.m. after a quiet night rest in Dom Dinis and good breakfast, and therefore, even a raining and overcast day was amazing :) since old warriors are handsome at any time of the year :). Fortunately, there was only a small group of Japanese tourists inside and none else... without any crowdedness we very patiently explored the whole castle. Rather plan your visit for the very morning while tourists and lazy guests :) are still in buses towards this. So astonishing to see in reality the spaces where the history of international relations lived for centuries. And yessss, this natural airy flow into Spain is perceived and picturesque :).
