Consolation Beach — Attraction in Peniche

Die Praia da Consolacao ist ein langezogener (ca. 8 km) feinkörniger Muschel-Sandstrand. Da es eigentlich fast immer windig ist, empfiehlt sich ein überall beziehbarer Windschutz. Tourismus besteht überwiegend aus Einheimischen. Das Gebiet ist charmant und landwirtschaftlich geprägt. In Peniche, ca. 8km entfernt, wird vorwiegend Sardinenfischerei betrieben. Die Sardinen sind riesig und europaweit bekannt, sogar mit dieser Herkunftsbezeichung in Deutschland erhältlich. Ein spezielles Restaurant, direkt am Wasser (im Winter geschlossen) muß besonders hervorgehoben werden, das "Sol de Vida", dessen Eigentümer ein extrem preiswertes Hotel betreibt. Siehe auch unter "Residencial Neptuno" im Internet. Insgesamt ist der Ort Consolacao noch ein Geheimtipp. Im Winter ist hier nichts los. Die besten Monate sind Juli bis September. Wassertemperatur liegt bei ca. 18 - 21°. Im September ist das Wasser am wärmsten. Sonnenschutz zwingend erforderlich, da auch bei Temperaturen ab 20° bereits Sonnenbrand möglich ist. Ich habe 20° immer so empfunden, als wenn es bereits 25° oder mehr wären. Consolacao ist auch für jodhaltige Luft bekannt. Mein jährlicher Urlaub findet seit 15 Jahren fast nur dort statt. Deutschfreundliche Bevölkerung "vereinfacht" den dortigen Aufenthalt. Fazit: absolut...

Great beach! Comfortable access and lots of amenities and things to see and do. Sea water temperature is so good. Take the surf lessons! World-class kite surfers will train there, as well. Sand is thicker close to the Consolação Fortress, so walk some 300 metres from the fortress to have soft sand under your feet, but bear in mind that part of the beach has no life guard...
