Historically, Alba Iulia was a roman castrum named Apulum. It was founded in 106/107 and was home for the XIII Gemina legionnaires. It is also the largest castrum that was found one the territory of Romania.
The Principia Museum is built in honor of the Roman times and is an exhibition of the excavations, statues, and remnants of the Roman period.
There's an exterior area that's free to visit and contains statues of the Roman rulers who have led the castrum during ancient times, plus an interesting collection of marble and limestone structures.
The interior part is 10lei (€2) per person to visit and it includes a short 4-5 minute video, a guided tour of everything that's inside (ruins, reconstructions, pottery, and small jewelry), a small machine that you can play fun games/quizzes.

Most of the "good stuff" in terms of exhibits is located in the outside lapidary and is available for free.
